- Difference between FP2 and Quali for Max after they turned up the engines. Estimating they gain a solid 4-5 tenths with ICE and deployment shenanigans. 1.3 tenths down the main straight, 1.5 tenths down the back straight, 1 tenth into spoon, half a tenth up the hill.
- Mix of top speed and acceleration. Around 5kph up down the main straight, 3-4 kph up down the back.

- If we compare that to for example Ferrari, we can see their trace and delta between FP2 and Quali basically doesn't change. The delta is flat once we get out of the corners and traction zones. A strong indication they were running full power modes or something very close already in FP2.

Another confirmation of what we've seen before, RB run their engine de-tuned on fridays. Not all teams do, as we see with Leclerc.

So that could mean longevity is not up there, maybe also a small contributing factor to SP where they ran an engine just prior to the new one here so likely high ish mileage.

I'm sure it's something they're aware of. In fact recent interview from a Honda engineer:
Red Bull will have an improved Honda engine in 2024 says Koji Watanabe

"We are not allowed to improve anything in terms of power and performance but we can still make progress in other areas with this engine"

"For example, at Ferrari they have developed the engine considerably and the ERS system from Mercedes is also very strong. We will also improve our engine for next year, in terms of its lifespan. So there is definitely more in the pipeline."

That is good news! It’s a good thing Max usually needs only few laps, but still, engines are important. Pre this season there were also bullish sounds coming via the Italian press. Not sure if anyone leaked anything or if it was pure guesswork, but still.

And that’s exactly what I said yesterday. Thank you!
Really hard for some knobs to understand.

Liam to replace Perez next year..?
That would be unfair to Liam.

I reckon Daniel will get parachuted in and Liam will take the AT seat. There’s no way in hell Daniel would be 7/10ths behind Max at Suzuka!

You are probably right, would be something like 0.433 of a second. If Max hasn’t gotten any faster and Ricciardo any slower since they last ran together.

Interestingly, Daniel got 2 poles that year to Max's 0 - I wouldn't expect it to go Daniel's way currently, but it would be a lot closer.

Well my predictions proved accurate....I guess someone can tell me again about how RB took downforce out of Max's car so they could gain +5km/h and that's why they are slower in the esses. lmao.

It was fuel that made them look slow in the esses in FP3. Verstappen is playing in another league here. 1 set of tires to make Q3. 1 lap in Q1, 1 lap in Q2. banker lap good enough for pole. lmao. Case closed.
