Norris crumbled again. 2nd qualies in the row on the same weekend. You won’t win any races with drives like this fella
crumbled? he starts 2nd

Well, his only opponent was basically his rookie teammate. He’s lucky they are a bit quicker than rest (not counting ver)

Mah, they had a good banker and then on the last lap he took more chances and made mistakes both days, not ideal but crumbling seems exaggerated, as you said he had no pressure outside his team mate.

completely agree, especially about today. He wanted to beat Verstappen and went for it, which was completely fine, having a Top 3 secured already the prior lap.

Norris probably didn't know that he was only fighting Piastri in the end, who was a tenth or two behind after S2 already.

Question is how McLaren will handle this now. If they want to win the sprint, they should probably wave him through asap, but that's of course a thing you don't normally do.

There's the start to navigate first. Norris is on the dirty side and a long run to T1

More likely than not Verstappen will be P2 by turn 2.

We knew it was coming but still, tremendously ironic timing.

Qatar Grand Prix: Pirelli to be awarded new F1 tyre deal
https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/67041380

The contract runs from 2025-27, with an option for a further year in 2028.

Bridgestone was approved as a potential supplier by governing body the FIA but commercial discussions saw F1 chairman Stefano Domenicali choose Pirelli.

Something I do not quite understand. The penalty for track limits was meant to be in spirit "leaving the track and gaining an advantage". So if this was the intent of the rule those that are running really wide such as Norris in the last turn should still keep their lap time despite going off track as no advantage was gained.

Why is this important?
I think this is important because when those that have had all their times deleted have to decide on which order to start there might have actually been valid lap times that could have been referenced to decide that quite fairly and honestly.

Thing is you gain an advantage as you can carry more speed through the corner whilst keeping the car as straight as possible.
