Except it was slower.
It was slower like the 2nd attempt in Q3. What commentators say isn't that important aside from color, usually they are totally clueless. coulthard commented that Ferrari looked slow in the first lap of Q2, but didn't notice it was on used softs.
If you take leclerc's last lap then ferrari and RB are near identical on main straight and lec is very tiny amount faster than verstappen on second straight, very small differences. I'm not surprised about this, RB in max downforce config wasn't ever a rocket on straight compared to other cars. Just normal procedures occurring.DoctorRadio wrote: ↑29 Oct 2023, 02:04I had a look at lap 16 of Leclerc, his second Q3 run, he was faster on the straights than the first run and faster than the Red Bulls, suggesting it’s where they went really at full power.
It wasn’t absolutely a big difference on the straights between Ferrari and Red Bull, but taking into account that Ferrari should have more drag, Marko’s quotes (that they used full power) make sense.
red bull are usually a second faster than alpha tauri but here Max is just a tenth faster,i think its clear that Rbr car doesnt work well in street circuits we already saw that in singapore.Max will easily win their race pace is good ferrari may blow a turbo.Juzh wrote: ↑29 Oct 2023, 10:51If you take leclerc's last lap then ferrari and RB are near identical on main straight and lec is very tiny amount faster than verstappen on second straight, very small differences. I agree AT shouldnt be this close to max, car didnt like either the conditions, the track or maybe both. If you look at speed trace danny ric loses like 0,4s on straights but ends up only 1,5 tenth behind.Bill wrote: ↑29 Oct 2023, 11:10red bull are usually a second faster than alpha tauri but here Max is just a tenth faster,i think its clear that Rbr car doesnt work well in street circuits we already saw that in singapore.Max will easily win their race pace is good ferrari may blow a turbo.Juzh wrote: ↑29 Oct 2023, 10:51If you take leclerc's last lap then ferrari and RB are near identical on main straight and lec is very tiny amount faster than verstappen on second straight, very small differences. I think the thin atmosphere really levels the drag playing field. The AT likely had good downforce thanks to recent upgrades.
That is what I was thinking too, but imho Mercedes also has very high DF but they weren’t really there. And Williams imho has not and they were there (until they weren’t).
