Daniel Ricciardo at P4 feels like one of those over qualifications where he'll quickly drop to outside of the top 10.
His pace in free practice was very good even on long runs. The Alpha Tauri carries a lot of downforce which becomes important when there is less available at altitude. The car has also been strong in low speed all year. People have slept on how much the AT has been improved and how much downforce it has as they just struggled at recent circuits
They've been losing a ton on the straights which means Mexico suits them as drag matters less.
I don't think it was a huge overperformance to be honest. And even if he goes backwards in the race, I don't think it will be more than a couple of positions
