Car is fast in a straight line but is losing heaps of time through corners. Looking like the 4th best team right now.
Hamilton had perfect tows on both straights on his fastest lap so I think the straight line speed is deceiving for that lap in specific.

Rpm of Merc is also high. See compared to McLaren..

Degradation/graining on the mediums looked REALLY bad again..

Comparing Lewis (new Mediums to Max (13 lap old mediums) who had similar degradation to Ferrari

I think they aren't running enough DF for the tyres
Kinda imagined that since Merc was quite fast in a straight line. I also don't get why GR is significantly faster than LH in the race simulation. Maybe different programmes and targets?
With George I think he pushed harder at the beginning - maybe simulating an undercut and he hit a MASSIVE cliff in terms of tyre performance Image
Not dissimilar to how the tyres behaved in Brazil.. ok for a few laps pushing and boom

Yep Merc was in a high power mode. Hamilton asked after the end of his 36.6 if he had "1 more lap with that power mode" (in reference to wanting to do another hot lap to beat George's time since he said that he knew where he dropped the 3 tenths to George) and Bono said "negative" and told him a different engine mode.

They added downforce since yesterday. The monza wing without the trimmed DRS flap

is there any info on their medium long runs this session or is it too early?

didn't check the onboards, but from the times alone, it looks like the problem was the same as yesterday

I can't see a different wing. The flap is still trimmed in FP3. It's hard to tell. It seems like the trailing edge is slightly further away from the Petronas label today, but I can't decide if that's just camera angles/optical illusion. A flap trim is s

I've looked again, it looks the same as yesterday.

Lewis won't score points IMO. The fp3 long run was woeful and now not even a good starting position. With Perez and potentially Sainz behind I could see him going backwards rather than forwards.

3rd Q2 elim for Lewis this year, his performance is a bit more variable than russell it seems

Russell is P3 on the grid, almost P2. So we can't act like the car just doesn't work here.

Even second place in Q was doable, Russell was so close to Max!

Good job by GR, poor from LH. Long runs look terrible though, which is a shame

He made a mistake in the turn 7-8-9 area and that knocked him out.

Car looks fine, on the whole.

Wonder why Merc suddenly has such bad deg, dont think its the new floor as the deg was the usual in cota and mexico and they still had good deg on the low downforce setup like in Monza. So much for them understanding and fixing what went wrong in Brazil
