McLaren MCL38

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Just went and had a look in the tweet that contains the render/franken car they released with the video teaser. and combined with the tweet above the change in the inlet was hiding in plain sight, just well hidden due to the angle of the photo combined with the front view not supporting it.

Cooling inlet is definitely different, front wing is from the Livery Release render, not sure about the RW but otherwise the surface differences are relatively minor from what I can see but I think there is some deliberate hiding of detail, as you'd expect.

I see a small winglet in one of the images looks like its to direct the air down the side pod top where it passes between the mirror and the halo.

They cranked the second arm much more as RB has done since RB18 as a flow conditioner to the upper floor surface as expected. "more anti-dive"

The front view made people focus on what the inlets should be the other images from those renders/images released initially actually contain the real thing, thin red line underlines the midwing

Yes. It is the Red Bull pioneered suspension, probably the most significant looking change that we can see on the car so far.

Also floor edge wing is obviously been played with but they forgot to alter its shadows on the ground, can see non straight shadow.

Is that not the launch spec MCL60 on the right? The intake/sidepods were altered during the season were they not? Might be worth a comparison with the Abu Dhabi car.

Regarding the midwing, I fully expect Merc to have retained it also. But we'll see.
