Do provide us with a stint of similar length that with an average time within a second.
EDIT: Preferrably on worn tires
Gasly on C1 tyres

36,415 - 36,928 - 37,088 - 36,889 - 36,851 - 37,213 - 36,995 - 37,02 - 36,89

Not humbled at all by Ver's C3 stint. Of course fuel load should be factored.
So a 35.5 avg for Max vs 36.9 for Gasly.
Dunno how the tires compare in race trim, though. I think C2 is the race best tire around Bahrain? Not sure.
At low temperature, I would say the softer the better.

Max just did this on C3:
1: 34.764
1: 34.901
1: 34.725
1: 34.874
1: 34.766
1: 36.584
1: 34.882

I'm not surprised the RBR is still strong, I'm surprised it's now year 10 or so of the timing graphics and it's still absolutely terrible and unchanged from past years. Nothing about average pace, last N laps, long stints vs fast attempts, tire age, current stint length, there is zero development to aid the viewer with relevant information. FOM is pathetic.

Posting various stints every 5 minutes when it’s clear that teams do completely different things (simply testing) does not make sense. If any, stints can only be compared when they’re a part of a race sim done in similar track conditions.
I find those interesting. It is not to compare to other teams, but still you can see the consistency from those or tyre degradation.
I’m all in for comparing stints, absolutely, but not in a completely random manner. Especially not in the first few hours of first day of testing when most teams do aero and setup work, trying out different things and extreme setups to test out the limitations.
Comparing stints makes perfectly sense when they were done in similar conditions, for example in a race stint simulation.

Max has used a lot of new sets of softs, their program is to run a lot of low fuel. Meanwhile Sainz has done half his laps on the same set of tires and hasn't really changed it in the last 2 hours and Norris just changed its C3 to a C2. They are on different programs. Ferrari cares about tire deg and checking that, while RBR is fine with their car already and just looking to have fun out there.

I reckon a second up on last year. Rules are very stable, unlike from 22->23 when new floor edge and diffuser rules had a much biggest impact than people expected.
My guess is a wild 1.5s per lap.. I think most teams were operating on 2 year cycles and this is their chance to make improvements at architecture level. So I think there will be a bigger step this winter than any other time in the reg set
At the moment the fastest laptime of day 1 testing is 1.5s faster than 2023's. Both RB 8)

Not sure I'd call it cool if it stays like that, a disaster as fans move to other sports

Mercedes have turned the wick up a bit now. On C1, George is doing a stint of high 1.35.xxx to low 1.36xxx.

It doesn’t even matter whether we think it’s good or not, it’s clearly a disaster for F1 and Liberty and will hurt their bottom line. It moves us closer to BoP or reverse grids which I don’t think any tech fan wants because it destroys F1s identity as a constructor's championship.

At this point I think they should have big rule changes every season.

Good call. Biggest aero regs change since '09 + budget cap + most restrictive ruleset ever = delays in finding the most optimal design?

I came to the sport during the Ferrari era. Did you ever voice this concern during the Merc era? It lasted 2.3x longer than the most recent RB era.
