Unfortunately we didn't get to see Charle's final stint of Race Simulation as Race Control was testing their systems, but overall the degradation in comparison to the first sting (both on C3) was about the same. Charles started the stint a bit slower, but Sainz was quite quick at the start so probably took more out of the tyre earlier on... so levels out being about the same, though better for Charles overall.
Final stint doesn't really matter much to be honest. It is low fuel so the degradation is always the best. The most important stints for measuring degradation are the first 2 when the car is heaviest.Schippke wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 18:25Unfortunately we didn't get to see Charle's final stint of Race Simulation as Race Control was testing their systems, but overall the degradation in comparison to the first sting (both on C3) was about the same. 2nd Stint was on a different tyre (Sainz C2/LeClerc C1) with the C1 being the better longer run tyre - Sainz 2nd sting was all in the low-mid 37's so very consistent, whilst Charles run on the C1 was close to a second faster a the start, however showed a noticeable bit of degradation towards the end - Might be due to the fact he was lapping significantly faster, but even compared to the softer C2, was expecting it to last a bit longer than that... probably trialing extremes in terms of pace in the stint.
If comparing to the SF23 though, it's literally night and day... so looking good moving forward in the battle for P2 in the WCC!
Indeed - I'm pretty sure that Ferrari topped the Lap Chart for most laps completed? If not, then very close to the top. Haas also managed a lot of running too and Sauber did until this morning with only 28 laps for Bottas on the first half of the day... so seems the Power Unit is working well, though I'm sure nowhere near its limits in terms of pace. Should definitely help that we've got 4 Sets of Power Unit Allocations this year... might change how Ferrari runs them a bit over the season.CouncilorIrissa wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 18:28Well, this pre-season went as good as it gets if you don't have a spaceship (RB20). Great job by the team.

Not trusting a single word out of the commentators!Vinlarr89 wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 18:46Some interesting points being discussed at the testing wrap up. They were indicating that they feel Ferrari very strong in race trim, very close to RB in fact, but the car appearing to be a handful when leclerc was pushing and suggesting may lack one lap pace.
Still think this is the lessor of the evils as the fast one lap cars have always been a nightmare come Sundays and the cars with better race pace always bear down.

Russell race pace looked solid. Though it's very difficult to judge.Alex_Z wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 19:20Allison claims Mercedes are slightly ahead of Ferrari in regards to race pace but behind on 1 lap paceCaribouBread wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 18:51Not trusting a single word out of the commentators!Vinlarr89 wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 18:46Some interesting points being discussed at the testing wrap up. Do you see this as a good thing, or bad? Is there anything to be gained by sandbagging? Teams are looking to improve based upon their OWN peak, not their competitors. I doubt teams are thinking "Well, we're .2 sec faster than our competitor... everyone take the rest of the week off!". Besides, I have to imagine that everyone knows who's sandbagging and by how much.Vanja #66 wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 19:26Looks like Ferrari decided to do a full simulation without sandbags, I can only speculate the reason was to trully check the degradation and race pace capabilities under full load. They revealed what they can do and no other Top 5 team appeared to do so in testing.
It's good to see they are far better than they were a year ago. Roughly, start of the stint is 1s better and near the end of it laps are 2s better compared to R sims a year ago. On average 1.3-1.5s better pace than 23 testing, which was pretty much what the pace was in the race as well. Very good job by the team and we should draw the line at that. First race is only 8 days away and everything will be clear.
