I think we're running a bigger wing. That's why we are purple in S2. But clearly the trade off is not much which is why we are in the mix for front row
I think we do look pretty good with downforce, but the amount of speed we drop compared to others is quite big.
That said, I often find that tows are not stripped out of the data and we know there were a few.
For amusement I strung together the Best sectors of each driver and in that metric, which as we know is pretty useless, Lando would have been P3 In front of Leclerc.

Didn’t Oscar give Verstappen a tow on his fastest lap?

True, excel is behaving weird and the sort is making the formulas not all sort together, despite the filter covering all data.
In any case, as I and many others have said, it is a useless metric. One sector impacts another and they cannot be taken in isolation. Big mistakes in a single corner or a couple of corners hold a lot of weight. if you don't agree with that, then fine, but there's no point us discussing it.

Lando: "I messed up sector 1, had a little oversteer on the exit of 1, just as I came on the throttle, and it cost me easily 1 and a half tenths, and it cost me P2. It's frustrating, and because of this I felt like I wanted to push a bit more... wrong thing to do... then I paid the price again in turn 4 with another couple of mistakes, the rest of the lap was there or thereabouts. The car was easily good enough for a front row."
Also Lando: "The car is feeling amazing."
I don't think I've heard him say that before. Ever.
So all in all, qualifying results might be a little bit underwhelming, I still feel like this could be a good season for us. Very excited to see what race pace our baseline car has. The only problem I foresee is that we do not have enough topspeed for overtaking. Hopefully our strong S2 will help to protect the tires, so that we can play the long game and have fresher tires at the last stint.

That's right. Incorrect corner entry affects corner exit. Wrong exit from the corner is a loss on acceleration to the straight, and the longer the straight, the more time lost in total.

Didn’t Oscar give Verstappen a tow on his fastest lap?
Just diving into the data, Verstappen's fastest speed was actually set without a tow. Leclerc had a minor tow.

Verstappens highest top speed was 331 KMH, a tow by Magnussen in Q1 or 2, not sure. His fastest lap was a very lengthy tow provided by Piastri who obviously moves out the way after finishing his lap which means Verstappens top speed is not any higer at the end of the straight but he sill gains around 8-10kph whilst tucked worth ~1.5tenths in the middle.

Nah he had no tow for hitting 331 as far as I can see. Column E, Distance to Driver Ahead shows you the distance in meters to the car in front. As he accelerated to 331 there was no one in front, according to the data. I don't think it removes cars moving to the pits or on an inlap, but I'll check, there may be some oddities in the way the data presents the driver ahead. Of course, I can't see him getting 331 without a tow so it must be removing people, I wonder if it does remove the inlaps.
