Which is why I said he would if he could.

Without Max or LH I am sure RB can create a new WDC. Plenty of talent on the grid.
You originally said "If Max leave I bet LH will jump in to try to claim his 8WDC."

No caveat on that one.
Agree with you here I see no way that Lewis goes to Red Bull.

Hes talked about how Vassur was a huge part of the reason he went to Ferrari - and well as I think most drivers dream of driving for Ferrari when they are young, Vassur and the allure of driving for Ferrari

LH said many things about Merc after signing contract with the team, visiting factory etc . before changing his mind a couple of months later..

Better not read too much into what he says, watch what he does. He is trained to speak like politician.

RB had Max so there was no chance for LH. If LH or RB has know Max will leave I am sure LH will jump in.

most talk like a politicion I agree; I take most things said publicly with a grain of salt.

I just don't see Lewis going to RB even if Max was to walk.

Is it impossible that it will happen, no.

Just I find it very very unlikely.

Sure LH would love his 8th WDC, but his interesting outside F1 etc, I just see it as extremely unlikely.

Far more likely if he walked at the end of this year maybe Alonso is not under contract. Maybe see how Riccardo goes. As per an article in another thead (skeptical if it s accurate) but they'd look at Norris/Piastri

RedBull would be a sinking ship if CH and Max leaves because Newey might just call it a day too after all of that.

Hey! he might just decide to cap his career off with Ferrari! Remember it would not be the first time that Newey contemplates leaving RedBull. And he hasn't worked with Lewis or Ferrari before. So yeah It's not unlikey.. Infact it is very very likely to happen if Horner gets fired.

I feel the key for Newey is the freedom to work outside F1 when he wants.

If CH and Max were to leave then it may make him consider options.

I think why Newey at RBR is works is he can move onto other projects - the RB road cars (AM ) etc, And turned to F1 and work on what he wants I think if he was to leave, they'd have to offered a similar role.

Ferrari would give him their first children if they could.. So a little freedom here and there shouldn't be an issue i dont think!

Would they let him go as far as something like the RB17 which doesn't really share much Ferrari road car DNA. If they did then I can see the motivation, but I feel like Ferrari tend to be a little traditionalist/stubborn in Ferrari doing Ferrari things the Ferrari way...it that makes sense

Considering Ferrari could put a $5mil price tag on such a car and sell every single one, I would bet they would let him.

It would be really stupid for Max to leave Red Bull. Red Bull have won multiple titles in 2 different eras. They are the highest level team in the sport. It really doesn't matter what the reason is, it .would be really dumb. I am a Max fan but Im not particularly impressed with this whole thing. I though Max might spend his F1 career there. But once he leaves, he will be just another Alonso adrift among the field. And we will all remember that time when he was a 4 time champ.

How did this thread become about Hamilton too

He would be a potential candidate to replace Max. Who knows what clauses are there in his contract. He is looking for his 8th title and he wouldn't simply sit and let the opportunity pass by.

Its as much the influence of his dad that would worry me. Not in that I think Max has those traits of Jos; but if Jos really pressured him to leave some kids with parents with the will of Jos can often just go along cause either afraid of the consequences or not wanting to upset his dad who hes close with.

I always had the impression that Max only cares about winning races. Everything else isn't important to him and he tends to ignore it... And because that's the case, i couldn't care less about the comments of his father.

But Hamilton has a point, having your father as close will cause issues. Ham fired his dad in the past (iirc), maybe Max should do the same...

Lewis did yes but Jos doesn’t manage Max either, Jos is just very outspoken. But the closeness of them- from the outside- is the only reason I see he may walk if pressured by Jos.

Max yesterday to the press:
.
Max on his Red Bull future

Are you sure you will stay at Red Bull until 2028?

Well that was always the intention of signing, that’s why we signed for so long to be here. And of course it’s about the performance of the car. And of course from 2026 onwards that’s a bit of a question mark with new regulations. But I knew that when I signed the contract. But I also know what they have done for me in my career.

So yeah, the intention is of course absolutely to stay with this team because I really enjoy it, and I’m also really happy within the team.
And yeah, as long as we perform there is no reason also to leave.

Would you ever envisage being at Mercedes?

The thing is, I think nobody would have seen that Lewis would move to Ferrari. And that is not related to F1. You never know in general life what happens, or comes to you, or happens around you or what might influence you, so you can never say 100 per cent that that is how it is going to be, and that is the way I approach my life.

I am very relaxed and very happy at the team and the performance is there so there is no reason to leave.

Max on remaining with his father and manager

Will you stay with your Dad and Raymond?

I don’t see myself in F1 without them by my side. Everyone in general, even if you have arguments or not, there are things that can be worked out. Everyone is man enough and respectful enough anyway.
I have not always agreed with everything that has happened – and I am not talking about lately – just in general in F1 and that is where sometimes it is good to have a discussions. You might agree to disagree, that is what happens in a relationship.

Do you share your father’s comments?

Well of course, I’m the driver so I don’t know what is happening higher up, right? But from my side. I’m contracted to focus on the performance side of things. And that is my plan this weekend. And what has been said in Bahrain from everyone basically is to leave that behind and hopefully have a bit more of a quieter weekend.

Your father said Red Bull might explode. Do you agree?

I don’t know. I mean, I hope not. It shouldn’t. It’s a strong company, a strong team, a lot of strong team members. So normally not.

Have you spoken to him about his comments?

I was with him until yesterday, so this morning basically. I mean, we speak all the time. We’re a team. It’s me, my dad and Raymond [Vermeulen, Verstappen’s manager] all together. And that will always be like that also. But I guess he clearly felt like that. But I think from my side, it doesn’t matter like being on one side or the other side.

Of course, as the son of my dad, it would be weird to be on a different side. But from my side I just want to focus on the performance side of things and have less talk about what is happening outside of the track than the actual performance. We have a great car and we’re looking forward to a great year.

Can you stay at Red Bull if Horner remains?

Well we are at the moment. I saw a lot of stories about that, which was a bit weird to read. But from my side, what I want, and it doesn’t matter who is involved in the team or not, it’s to have a quiet environment where everyone is happy to work.

If RB are capable of doing something that stupid then I wouldn't mind if they did; if only for getting to see the schadenfreude of a spectacular boomer own goal. They're the most talented or at least most well organized aero/chassis engineers on the grid, obviously, but there's a difference between being specialists and being polymaths. We'd get to extrapolate how far their intelligence extends beyond racetracks, wind tunnels, and autoclaves.
