I think that Oscar lost most of the time from the top 3 as he was 2 tenths faster on S2 than Max. He did have two hic ups in those last two left turns.

the mega trail that took # Verstappen is by # Hulkenberg. 340 kph as top speed, against the 330 of # Leclerc and the 332 of # Piastri. Without the trail Ma forse perhaps he would not have been able to stay ahead of the #McLaren. Cmq he is always monstrous, there is a lot of his in this pole

By trail I assume he means draft right? Do we know what top speed Red Bull had without the tow? I'm assuming a few kph over McLaren and Ferrari still?

Yeah apparently Max got slipstream from the Haas. Not unreasonable to assume it was worth >=1 tenth. Difference in top speed was massive on their fastest lap.

A shame when you're so close but it is what it is. And yeah, Lando didnt have a good second sector in his last lap.

Track position is very important here, with Oscar potentially dropping behind both Ferraris, it will be crucial for Lando to stay ahead of them at the start.

Then we can see what we can do with the pace.

It was a big slipstream at the start. Definately worth more than a tenth.

But hey we got the luck in the race last time, can't complain about it going the other way.

Car looks fast though and Max is going to see a lot of Orange tomorrow.

Yes, it would have been nice for a pole to come to Imola after Miami, but P2 and P3 on merit, it was something unthinkable a year ago. We should get used to seeing McLaren up there again. Regarding tomorrow's race, the Miami scheme seems plausible, with a first stint as long as possible, the pace is good and a possible VSC or SC can bring a new victory. It's good that we have both cars in front so that the strategy options are more varied than what Red Bull has available. Very happy with the team.

Think it was more than a tenth, it was near enough the full length of the pit straight.
I’m pretty confident that Verstappen would have been third without it- unless the Mclarens got a tow as well?

I think McLaren now have the fastest car in F1 currently, could have easily been a front-row lockout and their race pace last time in Miami was extremely good. Max made the difference today, but McLaren can win tomorrow even without jumping him at the start, all to play for.
