I'll save you the trouble. Don't see it!

From Dust to Glory is awesome. Mouse McCoy rode the entire Baja 100 on a bike solo, and that dude was so far out of it from exhaustion is was comical. He even crashed close to the finish, and if I'm not mistaken rode the last few miles with broken ribs. On a bike, in the desert, in pitch darkness. Amazing. I thought rall fans were crazy about being close to the cars when they race, but the Mexican fans down there are true fans of desert racing. They crowd the track even closer than rally fans. Robby Gordon even tagged a motorhome in a trophy truck and I'd bet the owner wore the damage with pride.

I had no idea what movie you guys where talking about... because Vanishing Point here is badly translated... but yes! I have seen the 1997 remake and I was told the original one is even better, so Im taking note to see this one.
Wow you're right "Punto límite: cero" is rather weird, i wonder what they meant...
Well, Spanish is not like Chinese or Arabic...

Punto límite: cero means.... Limit Point: Zero

So Dave, no mention of "Driver"? 8)

On a side note of Tom Cruise's role choices, I've noticed: He is the best.

- Best bartender - Cocktail
- Best sports agent - Jerry McGuire
- Best Samurai - The Last Samurai
- Best fighter pilot - Top Gun
- Best car salesman - Rain Man
- Best secret agent - Mission Impossible
- Best stock car driver - Days of Thunder
- Best crane operator - War of the Worlds, they even called him the best they got when he said no to overtime....

...there are exceptions, and likely more, but the nutcase definitely follows a theme.

The best racing film of all times, past, present and future is "A Gentleman's Motor Racing Diary" by the legendary John Tate, which you can get at http://www.capricornmedia.com.au

Image

Besides, it costs 130 AUD (I imagine it means Australian Dinars or something), which translates to mere pennies in your local currency (if your local currency includes the penny).

The fact that is Chaparral's company the one distributing the film has nothing to do with the previous judgement, ehem... not even a tiny bit, not at all, no, no and no. Move along, citizen, there is nothing to see here, this is not spam.

Now, seriously, this film is a very particular view of the world left behind, the one where motor racing developed. It is a story of great competitions, kind of olympians, specially when you contemplate the sportmanship you need when the cars were not models of efficiency and errors were paid with life: you were much more corteous. It's like dancing with guns: you are very careful, really.

This idea, this feeling of racing closer to danger, is seen through the eyes of an amateur moviemaker pretty much in love with racing. He's the kind of man that kept a personal diary, a a gallery and a film archive on his experiences in motor racing. You could call him "the first blogger" in Formula One History.

On the down side, the movie doesn't feature Tom Cruise.

I couldn't stop thinking that nowadays you cannot film the races.... there should be a law about that! ;)

Well, in short, this is a cool movie to have around. 8)

oh please~!
you guys should just kill yourselves.
-stopping the car to risk your life and save someone elses?
-live team radio chat with other drivers?
-double-teaming overtaking?
-practise driving with a game on a windows 95?
-deliberate pit stop to block another driver?
-driving racing car without helmet on the streets? not to mention how they could even start the car without a starter?
-drifting a racing car to pick up coins?
God!!! the list of bullshit from this movie just never stops.
wtf were they thinking when they make these pathetic moving images?

After watching this movie i can for sure understand why Sébastien Bourdais is so crap driving in formula 1, if indeed this movie is a real reflection of racing in America. Its an insult to racing in the purest form and there is nothing more to it.

When I first started this thread my intention was about actual racing, documentary type films. I don't care about chase sequences. That's why I never replied when Ronin was mentioned. I don't care about a chase scene.
I just want a film that shows not just the racing, but the challenges that teams and drivers go through on race weekends or in between weekends.
A documentary about the financial challenges of modern F1 teams would be fun to watch too. Perhaps a one hour show of the logistics behind going to a GP overseas would be good too.
I suppose what I'm asking is a behind the scenes look at our favorite types of racing.

Chase scenes in Hollywood productions == Bad
Loeb driving video for 5 minutes and then 45 minutes of behind the scenes == AWESOME

Have anyone seen Team Schrick documentary? [in german with english subtitles: link]

It's about a german driver and TV presenter Tim Schick and a bunch of other crazy people trying to turn a second-hand Aston Martin V8 Vantage into a Nordschleife 24h racer in just 9 months.

I have just watched the Enzo Ferrari movie and have mixed feelings about it. I liked some thins and disliked others.

There is an Ayrton Senna movie to be presented in 2011, or at least thats what I have heard in Top Gear. The onboard laps that they showed made me watch again an old VHS I have in Japanese, arround 1 hour of Senna on-board, shifting manually with the McLaren and the Lotus...

Also, a Villeneuve film was announced some years ago and then never presented, does anybody knows what happened?
