Where did that came from? Redbull clearly found the sweetspot again. Great drive by Max .

I think sprint quali was a bit flattering for the others as Max didn't have a good T9-T10 in SQ3. However I feel they did find significant improvement for quali. It was on rails and didn't struggle in the slower corners much either

Heres the differences between Sprint Quali and Race Quali and the time the drivers found between each. Some big improvements. Oscar gets a * because of the deleted lap, but imcluded anyhow as the gains were probably in the hundreths with being over track limits by a inch or 2.

Great job Perez on improving so much!

And I believe track limits with a gravel bed a car width next to the track should not be judged

today Perez didn't have tires left for Q3, so his lap was set on used softs.

This obviously was the case due to his own fault as well, but explains part of the gap at least.

Max is on another league, not Red Bull. The guy embarassed the whole grid today.
Yes max simply sitting in the car adds 20 points of downforce

The cheapest sort of pride is national pride, every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud adopts, as a last resource, pride in the nation to which he belongs; thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.

I'm wondering if Honda have made progress on their high altitude engine mapping this year, among other things. Only the Honda cars have gone faster than last year. It won't be entirely down to that, but I could not help but notice it is only the Honda cars that went faster.

Certainly interesting vs the large improvements we've seen at tracks previously this year vs last.

"These guys are f*cking retarted."

Not sure what kind of penalty this comes with, but it better be huge.

I have to eat my words after being the biggest advocate of "McLaren is the fastest car now" over the past week. And hereby I do.

RBR did some change between sprint and quali, that not only amplified the gains in 9 and 10, but reversed the deficit in 1 and 3 into gains.

Image

Losing time to McL in 4 and gain in 7-8 is more or less remaining the same.
But apart from that, gaining in both low speed AND gaining even more in high speed -- something doesn't make sense. Did RBR have a 'Eureka' moment with their 'setup troubles' ? Because Marko himself is surprised and claims they did something to optimize race pace and are shocked to find the gains in one lap pace. What the hell did they do ? Throw away 10 kg of pig iron from the car ? The track was hotter in Q than SQ, mind you.

Also, if you notice in the trace, VER or NOR, one of them, has inverted their driving style into the slow corners.
1,3,4 corners (I'm guessing it's VER since his car had the change - in SQ he was braking late, sacrificing exit and in Q he was braking early, sacrificing entry) in Q are looking the mirror image of the same in SQ.
