This ruleset is not working. I don't know if FIA doesn't know what they are doing or what is going on. I get it can be hard to rulemake how to serve the penalty properly but these games like Perez or Lando here are a mockery of the rules.InsaneX_Badger wrote: ↑30 Jun 2024, 17:38For anyone wondering, Lando didn't correctly serve his penalty in the pits. However, it was applied at the end of the race by the stewards because he still was a classified finisher so he won't get any penalty for Silverstone. Guess Perez didn't do this as his retirement was much earlier into the Japan GP.

The stewards would have taken what happened into account for the decision. I think it would have been unfair on Lando to be penalised for something that was outside of his control - not finishing the race.chrisc90 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2024, 17:40How does that work? Dont think we have seen his happen in the past. Totally negates the 3 place grid drop to next race rule.InsaneX_Badger wrote: ↑30 Jun 2024, 17:38For anyone wondering, Lando didn't correctly serve his penalty in the pits. No. I'd say he would slightly break rules even at the cost of a crash if other driver doesn't want to yield.Spacepace wrote: ↑30 Jun 2024, 17:59So you believe Verstappen crashed into Norris on purposerenault rs26 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2024, 17:57I don't think anyone is acting out of anger, they know it's 'cheaper' to crash into someone then to let him go because penalties are too weak.
Euh rewind back a few rounds… where verstappen took evasive action and moved to the outside. It’s just where to dogs fight for the bone the third one runs away with it.Tvetovnato wrote: ↑30 Jun 2024, 18:04This is Verstappens mentality in a nutshell, and no one elses.renault rs26 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2024, 17:57I don't think anyone is acting out of anger, they know it's 'cheaper' to crash into someone then to let him go because penalties are too weak.
Nope. Great champions are sporting and do not cheat. Plenty of examples out there. It’s just in F1 that this was invented by some fans to protect their cheating favourite driver. Started with Schumacher, continues with Verstappen.renault rs26 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2024, 18:11I would say every great champion has that mentality.Tvetovnato wrote: ↑30 Jun 2024, 18:04This is Verstappens mentality in a nutshell, and no one elses.renault rs26 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2024, 17:57

It was Ricciardo who popularized dive bombs way before.trinidefender wrote: ↑30 Jun 2024, 17:13Max could have backed out and ceded the place. That is how drivers are judged now. Generally dive bombs are allowed these days as long as the overtaking car makes the corner which Norris did.
Ironically it was max himself who popularised these sorts of overtakes heavily in 2020/2021 and change the view of the stewards to allow this sort of racing.
There is no great spectacle in cheating in sport. It’s just bad officiating and a sour end to a grand prix today.Espresso wrote: ↑30 Jun 2024, 18:16Euh rewind back a few rounds… where verstappen took evasive action and moved to the outside. Gave us a great spectacle.
Senna, Schumacher, Alonso, Hamilton. Aren't they great champions? And I'm talking stricktly about F1 champions.Tvetovnato wrote: ↑30 Jun 2024, 18:18Nope. I agree, but the 'whole' dirty max driving, dirty max tactics, are too much imo. Looking at the replay I see no deliberate action from Max. Contrair the dive bomb of Lando which was completely deliberate.
There is a very big difference in sporting mentality between Alonso and Hamilton on one side and Schumacher and Verstappen on the other.renault rs26 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2024, 18:20Senna, Schumacher, Alonso, Hamilton. No. Time penalties are applied after the race to drivers time if he doesn't pit.taperoo2k wrote: ↑30 Jun 2024, 17:51The stewards would have taken what happened into account for the decision. As for Max? If he'd let Lando through, kept him within 5 seconds, he'd have won the race. It's what makes the whole thing so stupid.
