Red Bull RB20

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

anyway, this development in the middle of the season is fascinating, kudos to RB

fingers crossed it works as intended
other way around, IMHO.
Such sweeping changes and such basic changes (sidepod undercut changed, airflow on top of sidepod that goes to coke bottle area changed) show desperation. It seems that they are 'going back' on their RB19->RB20 architecture change. That is not good news.

They need a quick car. And there is nothing wrong in going back to a car that is better than what your competition has. It is really that simple lol.

Other than the obvious cannon outlet change, sidepod walls are higher in the rear (around L and E of Oracle logo) and I'd say the top sidepod indent is more pronounced with this spec, the gully under Rokit logo is definitely deeper than before. Looks like an increase in pressure recovery everywhere on the bodywork, ie less bodywork lift

EDIT: yup, decent changes on sidepod top surface (right - new parts)

Also looks like a big rework of internal aero bits

And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Looks like significant increase in rear brake vent entry cross section too.

Possibly to keep or reduce any brake temperature transfer to wheel rin at minimum, preventing excessive influence in tyre temperature.

Notice that even in this Hnungary presentation, the rear wheel has very low static camber (evidenced by the dust mark from rolling it around) also the shot of RB 18 the same, with wear marking indicated that they are staying predominantly off the shoulder area of carcass. That's been a prominent characteristic on RB 2022 through to this one, and one others appear to be more moving toward.
Seems to make better use of 18" carcass geometry.

The usual reminder:

Please focus on the hardware and how it works in the car thread (i.e. here).

For winning or losing, please use the team thread instead. Much more noise and flexibility are allowed there.

Let’s keep the car threads short, F-O-C-U-S-E-D and information rich.
Rivals, not enemies.

The inlets behind the driver were quite large, where has that cooling capacity gone?
