How reliable is F1 planet? i havent heard anything of this elsewhere. Either way axing Russell for a rookie seems like a horrible idea, especially given Russell's recent form

PF1 had a notoriously toxic forum/comments section but they cleaned that up somewhat; on the news front theyre about average.
https://x.com/LucianoYoma/status/1814296560391381328Shovlin: "Hamilton has struggled on the flying lap so far. It depends on how it attacks a curve. As soon as the car oversteers, temperatures at the rear skyrocket. We're working on giving him a more predictable car."
https://x.com/FormulaPassion/status/1814295403103387847Shovlin: "Russell has always set the bar high in qualifying. Lewis has struggled with this generation of cars, they don't suit his driving style. We worked on the balance to help him on Saturday"
In fairness, Mercedes has struggled to develop a car in this rule set that wasn't compromised in one way or another (aero, suspension, etc.).SKYnRacing24 wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 18:00Great post once again Luscion, well well well. Had a feeling for years these ground effect cars don't really play to Hamilton's strengths, Humbled to have it confirmed by shov. Not to take anything away from Russell as hes been fire this year in qualy but even riding onboard with Hamilton he can't hustle the car and lacks confidence compared to Russell in qualy trim.
https://x.com/fiagirly/status/1814348316219498857Lewis Hamilton: “It’s definitely very hot. Beautiful in Budapest as always.”
“Today’s not been a good day really, the weather’s been good, and it's been nice to be here, but we’ve not really been on form today.”
“The car hasn’t felt good set-up wise, but I think we have an idea why, and we'll just work overnight, but not the best prep so far.”
https://x.com/fiagirly/status/1814349188412342677Lewis Hamilton: “Little tweaks [between FP1 and FP2] but the car was pretty much the same, and there’s a particular thing that we left, that we’re changing this weekend that we probably need to go back on.”
“But it’s all relatively close otherwise. We couldn’t do the pace of the other guys today but the long run pace was pretty decent at the end.”
It’s a highly unusual thing for Shov to refers to the drivers by surname also giving interviews in between practice 1 and 2 is rare, save for broadcast spots.Luscion wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 16:14https://x.com/LucianoYoma/status/1814296560391381328Shovlin: "Hamilton has struggled on the flying lap so far. i would be very excited at a GR v Max inter team battle... Odd how the so called best racer on the grid doesnt want to have a competative team mate. Lack of courage. The best shouldnt be concerned with who they have as team mates.214270 wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 15:45PF1 had a notoriously toxic forum/comments section but they cleaned that up somewhat; on the news front theyre about average.

I feel VER camp will demand it, so it’s a stumbling block that will need to be bridged.
I believe he was doing interviews because of the whole crowdstrike thing. Here's the full interview214270 wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 19:33It’s a highly unusual thing for Shov to refers to the drivers by surname also giving interviews in between practice 1 and 2 is rare, save for broadcast spots.Luscion wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 16:14https://x.com/LucianoYoma/status/1814296560391381328Shovlin: "Hamilton has struggled on the flying lap so far. I honestly don’t think Merc get down like that with the special clauses/provisions in contracts, I might be wrong though. I think they’d engineer a number 1 & 2 more organically, by careful selection of the talent.Hammerfist wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 18:31
I would be so disappointed if that happens. But that would be in typical Verstappen fashion. I know Jos would not stand it if Russell or anyone else comes close to challenging Max at Mercedes. Surely that would be contract will include some weird number 1 driver clause. It will no longer be Mercedes F1 but Verstappen F1. Screw that.
Also Russell would be foolish to decide to go to Audi. Unless he is being pushed out that is.
Red Bull would snap him if he wants to leave Mercedes because of Max.Hammerfist wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 18:31

p6-p7 ?Russell:
“The McLarens and Red Bulls looked very quick today, so we know we've got some ground to make up. We don't seem to be quite as competitive in these very hot conditions so that is something we need to understand. We're excited to see what we can do tomorrow and hopefully we will be in the mix in the top-five.”
