This is usually a slam dunk DQ but given that he won the race they haven't got the balls to enforce it so expect a fine or some sort.
1.5kg underweight is a lot, i dont see how they let this slide.

Uh oh, Russell might be in trouble

Hamilton was told to lift and coast early in the race because they under fueled the car. I'm presuming for better tyre wear. How does Mercedes make the mistake of forgetting to tell Russell to lift and coast
It's not about too little fuel remaining in the car, which makes this case extremely curious...
True. I Mercedes using fuel that gains more mass when at stand still :P

I don't think they have the means to just leave it at that. It's a slam-dunk DSQ, like others have pointed out.

Silly question but was this a random weigh in or are all the podium finishers' cars weighed and only his came up as underweight?

How can they not enforce it ?
Wasn't Alonso thrown out of the podium in some race in 2023 ?
Wasn't Hamilton DSQ-ed after the race due to plank wear, again in 2023 ?
Just because national anthems were played and champagne spilled, how can the race result due to an undue weight advantage be allowed to stay and penalised just with a 'fine' ? This may have ramifications on championship status at the end of season.

Beautiful my friends

Explains why he had better tyre wear and traction out corners. :D :D

So, no cooldown lap to pickup loose rubber bites George?

Could 4 tyres lose 1.5kg of rubber because of tyre wear?

For the integrity of the sport, if you burn extra fuel others are not allowed to in order to nullify a competitors ability to challenge you, I don't see what excuse can be given that would allow there to be no disqualification.

That's a Pandora box best left completely used.

Please help me to understand here. Russell's car was underweight only after being drained of all remaining fuel. Doesn't it mean it was over the weight limit during the whole race?

interesting speculation, even if made in jest. What would pickup on cooldown lap be worth? Especially in combination with tires that did like 30 laps...

We're there even any marbles to pick up here? We just had a race where the winner did 3/4 of the race on one tyre.

I always thought rubber pickup was for minimum height measure.
