But if I am not mistaken, his balance was not good today either.
That was because of the wind. That's also why Norris didn't put a lap together until the very end and probably why Piastri dropped it too.
I'd say Norris and Piastri put their laps together in Q3 on the first run - they were P1 and P2. On second run due to track evolution it looks like Norris nailed his lap again, Verstappen did well as well while Piastri lost out early and probably pushed too hard in the remainder of the lap that made it even worse.

Verstappen was not too positive after the qualifying. IIRC he said that this type of oversteer into understeer is what they have to get used to now (as it happens each race).

If Max used old spec floor and Perez new, then relatively smaller gap between them could indicate that new floor is indeed faster.

Newly gone and red bull in back foot. not sure why they let him go but I don't see any improvement from RB here on wards and their down hill started already.....

one DNF for Max will change entire picture in WDC....

Perez is not doing good and not helping Max so it is difficult for Max to get this year WDC even he get one next year, they will not be top 3.....

barring any strange events, I can see Lando disappearing into the distance, while Max will have hard time in keeping Oscar behind; P2 would be a great result with "only" 7 points lost

also, I hope Max will use his head at the start, I know that he will want to pass in T1, but a DNF is unaffordable at this point.

After a few days of weird weather, a beautiful race day morning in Zandvoort! ☀️
The first fans are walking on the Boulevard to the circuit. It is sunny but still windy. 6 bft but no windgusts.

I dont think it was really RB's decision here. When somebody doesn't want to work for you anymore, it usually makes most sense to just let them go.

If anything Norris is at a point where he will be desperate to finally make it through T1 on top. That desperation may be capitalised on by Max

Yeah, but Red Bull could have played a role in Newey not wanting to work there anymore.

The amount of understeer is remarkable.

it got better in q3 in this particular corner

Yes, track conditions were all over the place yesterday with wind playing an important factor. There were laps from Lando where he had piss-poor understeer there as well.

There can be differences in the beam wing and deployment. They are also using the high load engine cover.

Max is using high-load wing actually, I missed this yesterday. Perez is using mid-load wing
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

On a short circuit, that McLaren has over 7 tenths per lap advantage on race pace! Wow. What a change of fortunes!
