A pleasant surprise, our swallow suddenly +/- top 2 cars in the race was, and this on the most unsuitable track of the second half of the calendar, and without updates. But maybe it's not all that bad?
Well done to everyone, a great race weekend with minimizing losses.

Bravo to both drivers and the pit-wall, clinical job.
And dont bravo engineers that they were able to customize the car for both drivers? huh?

I don't think the race gap will be more than 20-25s if everyone has a clean race and without SC
Sadly, I was wrong, it was 25.4s :( Norris was better than I expected, or rather he wasn't as punished for a bad start as I expected (Piastri's bad start saved him).

Finishing under 3s from Max is absolutely bonkers, if Russell didn't hold up Piastri and Leclerc by 5s there would have been a proper fight for P2 8)

Amazing job from Sainz, perfect strategy calls for both drivers, I have to say this race was beyond maximised. Mercedes failed spectacularly, Piastri was invisible overall, Perez was expectedly slow. Race started on positions worth 9p and they ended up with 25p - same points haul as Imola and Miami (race only) and the best result since Monaco. 8)

I wish the whole team a very happy celebration, they will be the happiest team tonight 8)

The gaps at the end weren't real. Norris could have easily been 40 seconds ahead of Max. Max also wasn't pushing. There was nothing to fight for in the 2nd stint. He lapped 1.15.0 from the first pit stop until the end of the race. Leclerc was being pushed by Piastri.

Yeah, Norris should have lapped Max really. Max could have lapped Leclerc too. Mercedes should have lapped Leclerc as well

Only for some people. I think that Ferrari were better than expected on race day and Mclaren were too, but not Red Bull.

They put both pilots upgrades from Spa, RB is also losing pace with upgrades, but let's not give in, only Ferrari are not good at upgrades :D

I think Hungary showed how quickly and how well they can react. McLaren also didn't touch the tunnels of the floor since Miami, only small geometry changes on diffuser and changing where the floor edge brackets are here. Their new mid-high load rear wing alone is the biggest update since Miami, not even front wing changes were so meaningful according to team itself. However, that rear wing won't be used again until Brasil, maybe Texas, so they won't be able to benefit from it in the next few races

9 tenths off on a 70 second lap. It's embarrassing.

Even if this is a worst case track, I'm still fully expecting the car to barely scrape podiums without some luck going forward, and finishing 4th in the WCC. This is not 'competitive'.

I cannot grasp where people's optimism is coming from.
How you doing there champ? Everything alright? We're all looking forward to you weighing in after the race :)

Charles with another spectacular drive this season, Sainz did brilliantly as well. From P6/10 to 3/5 on this track is a job well done by not only the drivers but also the strategy team. The pace of the car is quite random though, 9 tenths off yesterday but today maybe second fastest car. Might have been wind + temps. Fred and Charles confirmed Monza upgrades, praying that the team can deliver

Surprisingly good pace today - Charles did a fantastic job, the team played the strategy right, but it must be said that both cars were pretty quick and had good pace. Not McLaren pace but every bit as quick as a Red Bull that’s having the same development issues as Ferrari.

I think this weekend - both the poor one lap pace AND the good race pace - was all about tyres and temperatures. As I said yesterday, if they can unlock the Barcelona upgrade properly next week - which will be a performance boost - all three of the upcoming races should be good. I may be wrong but I suspect Ferrari generally put a bit more emphasis on having a good Monza low drag setup as well, and that gives me the feeling that next week could be fun.
