Spitballing on the safety car incident, because why not. Here's my theories:
1) The way the car seems to wobble seems like it's very possible there was a puncture, although there doesn't seem to be a dramatic blowout so either it was a slow leak that got too low or we just didn't see it? Moderately likely imo.
2) I'm assuming the Vantage has BBW and so there's no direct feedback from the brakes fading; is it possible the revamped Monza layout w/ higher speeds (new pavement + lower kerbs for higher corner speeds) coupled with any changes on the Vantage road car (think it was recently facelifted, no?) mean that after a few hot laps the brakes were cooked and this wasn't discovered until the pedal just went to the floor and the spin was an attempt to dissipate energy? Would explain the lack of braking nose dive and erratic steering. Seems most likely to me.
3) Maylander was trying to pull off a sick drift around Parabolica
and it didn't go to plan. Plausible but no chance we'll know about it unless he gets fired.
