So far the car seems to be struggling. Come on Mclaren, give us something.
Keep it calm please, this and next race are Ferrari's to loose
I dont count Ferrari yet. Monza like Monaco was an one off chance and that was mostly due to our drivers screwing each other.

In terms of long runs, Oscar is looking better with the same tire age, but Lando's first stint is comparable with Max and Carlos. Will post all the laps when the session is over.

Lando longrun -> Stint 3 + 4
Oscar longrun -> Stint 4

Max -> Stint 4
Sergio -> Stint 3

And I am only including Carlos and Lewis here :

Lewis -> Stint 5

It's giving Monza vibes but with a (much) more competitive RedBull.

I believe these two tracks suit their car better, we will see. RBR locking back in the game tho....

Good FP2. The pace is there for both qualifying and the race. Now let's see the team ramping up the engine tomorrow and show us something more.

Excuse the random colors. Other than Lewis who was on hards, Oscar seemed to have the best pace, but he dropped off in the end. Not sure if traffic or what, but he dropped 1.2s suddenly so it doesn't seem like tires going away.

Max and Lando are all-over the place so it's tough to really know what's going on there. But the stable laps Lando had were consistently slower than Oscar.

Carlos and Sergio are both very fast and on similar pace together (discounting outliers).

It has been suggested that Oscar has contract language that doesn't allow him to play 2nd driver unless he approves it. Norris really needs to have better starts. Qualifying doesn't win you races.
Piastri really needs to have better qualifying if he doesn't want to get defacto #2 driver treatment. 13 to 4 isn't close.

Same goes for Lando's first laps.
Qualy advantage only matters if not lost during the first 30 seconds of race.

No.

The Ferrari was about the same speed as Lando, a bit slower than Oscar. Lando was not driving off in the race from anyone.

It's where you finish on a Sunday that counts, as has been shown by both drivers.

Lando was 0.2 up on Carlos after S2.
That was relative to Carlos' medium lap, not the lap he was on behind Lando which took p1
Nope, he was 0.5s up on Carlos' medium lap after S2 and ~0.25 on his soft lap.
I think this is it (from f1-tempo). Norris was 0.339 ahead with the gap increasing (lower downforce I guess).

When I see a line running so smooth but quicker, it makes me think they are just running to a slightly different delta.

None of the cars have challenged their cornering speed or tyre life so there isn't much to learn from it.

With both drivers in the 1-2 they could easily give a DRS to each other and open the distance. At best Leclerc could have only passed Piastri.

I’ve been thinking for the past few race weekends that what the drivers say on a Friday is the most telling.

Soooooo :roll: …..
