Australian McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has won his second career victory at Baku in what he dubbed was a very stressful afternoon. Pole sitter Charles Leclerc finished in second place while Mercedes' George Russell completed the podium.
If previous race weekends are anything to go by, it is clear by FP2 if there are any performance outliers in the race sims. The advantage of Mclaren was obvious from the race sims in Hungary and Zandvoort.
Leclerc did not pit for fuel after his hot lap, so I don't think it's really possible to read much into those laps afterwards. These are long runs with fuel on board, on the M tyre. He came into pits after the hot lap on S. Are you saying they just changed tyres and that his S hotlap was with fuel load ?
they just changed tires, yes. He wasn't even pushed into the pits. There was no time left to get the car prepared for a high fuel run, so fuel loads were the same for his hot lap and the "longrun".
