McLaren was surprisingly bad though and Red Bull were a lot weaker than they looked in practice, but about where you would expect based on prior form.

Only thing I can think of is that Lewis has been always kinder on his tyres than George and this time it means he can't get the temp in. Possibly set up and just not as fast as he used to be which is what allows him to be usually the faster driver on the Sunday? Regardless, it's still not good enough for the calibre of driver that he is.
