The yellows are an excuse imho. I just watched it and he is 0.2s at s2 which is right before the corner where he went wide and then he aborted. I think the lifting, the error in the corner and mentally he must have given up at that point, he had 0.5s+ of margin to p15 given his s1+s2 delta.Vanja #66 wrote: ↑14 Sep 2024, 16:39I don't think I've ever seen what Lando's done today, if it's not a red flag and it is your last chance in a session, you floor it and try to work it out later if someone makes it an issue. Vettel overtook while yellows were on in Brazil 2012 but got away with it on a technicality
Nah, he floored it after T16 mistake and gave up seeing that Alpine slow down. He had everything to gain and nothing to lose by finishing his lap and he made the wrong call... Really bad under pressure, he needs a good psychologist to help him with a bit of mentality shiftdialtone wrote: ↑14 Sep 2024, 16:42The yellows are an excuse imho. Ah need to rewatch his onboard then, I think you are right.Vanja #66 wrote: ↑14 Sep 2024, 16:46Nah, he floored it after T16 mistake and gave up seeing that Alpine slow down. aborted laps usually aren't displayed correctly - or has this changed recently?dialtone wrote: ↑14 Sep 2024, 16:58Ah need to rewatch his onboard then, I think you are right.Vanja #66 wrote: ↑14 Sep 2024, 16:46Nah, he floored it after T16 mistake and gave up seeing that Alpine slow down. This is his lap compared to LEC. He definitely floored after T16 and he totally lifted for multiple seconds and downshifted on the straight during the slowdown, wow yeah never seen this before. I still think he gave up mentally and we agree on that.
I think that is only a problem with F1-tempo. dialtone doesn't use F1-tempo.search wrote: ↑14 Sep 2024, 17:05aborted laps usually aren't displayed correctly - or has this changed recently?dialtone wrote: ↑14 Sep 2024, 16:58Ah need to rewatch his onboard then, I think you are right.Vanja #66 wrote: ↑14 Sep 2024, 16:46

Honestly, you see it right away if a driver has the right mentality for any season-long fight or not. Hamilton was cheeky more than once with Alonso in 07, Max won his first race with RBR, Leclerc was really hard on Vettel, Piastri's also fighting Norris very hard on every occasion. You gotta push to the limit, dance on that edge and put a smile after the race for triple effect - look victorious, happy and charming to make sure everyone knows it... Eventually, even your worst opponents admire you
As AR3 says, I don't use F1-tempo, but it also depends on the track and where the team is placed in the pits.search wrote: ↑14 Sep 2024, 17:05aborted laps usually aren't displayed correctly - or has this changed recently?dialtone wrote: ↑14 Sep 2024, 16:58Ah need to rewatch his onboard then, I think you are right.Vanja #66 wrote: ↑14 Sep 2024, 16:46

Maybe I have the wrong lap, but what mistake in T16?
