For some reason I can't link to the article, but Tombazis also mentioned how the direction of the sunlight exegerated the perception of the gap size. This is something that immediately caught my attention when I first saw the video.

There was probably that time you suggested left in the Mclaren. Max was actually .250 up on his lap when Sainz crashed to his final run in Q3. Looks like the track started to fall away as the temperature cooled slightly. Unfortunately cant see the telemetry for the aborted lap from lando when there was a red flag, so hard to know where he was in relation to Max.

Great job by the team, lando dominant from the off.
Piastri p5 not ideal but at least we know he will apply pressure to both mercs and max.
A great shame that max managed to pull p2 out of the bag and fair play to them. I think as pleased as I'd be with a norris win today, if max finished p2 it almost certainly closes the door on the WDC imo. It would leave too much to do in remaing races but it will be interesting to see how close it will be at the end. I get the feeling the hungry switch and monza will be the difference.

So far as the WCC goes Singapore is looking great. I see ferrari as biggest rivals and with both being so far down the 51 point gap could easily become 75+.

That will have been purple/purple against Oscar as he was P1 at the time - due to Max having not yet completed a lap.

Lando was nearly 7 tenths up at one point vs his pole lap. He slowed a little down to a 2 tenths gap, before slowing massively. But his time would have smashed his eventual pole by just under half a second.

RedBull struggled in the last sector because they can't ride the kerbs in the penultimate chicane. Not unrealistic to assume Lando would have taken another 1 or 2 tenths out of him in the last sector. So, yeah, a low 29s should have been possible for Lando, whereas Max could have been right around or a bit faster than the lap that ended up being pole later.
