Sources have revealed that discussions have taken place between several teams and the FIA over recent weeks to discuss concerns that one unidentified outfit may have found a clever way to adjust front bib clearance between qualifying and the race.

Thought this deserved its own thread.

The FIA has taken on board the concerns of teams about the possibility of such a device and has decided to take action from this weekend’s race in Austin.

"[...] we have implemented procedural adjustments to ensure that front bib clearance cannot be easily modified.

“In some cases, this may involve the application of a seal to provide further assurance of compliance.”

However, the suspicions that have erupted are that a team has designed its car in such a way that it was possible to adjust the clearance of the front bib – also known as a T-tray – through a change of settings inside the cockpit.

It is understood teams have been alerted to the possibility of this happening through the design details of all cars needing to be uploaded to FIA servers on open-source components – which all competitors have access to.

From setting changes the driver makes is kinda getting specific too

Could it possibly be just the extra weight of the driver on the seat making the difference?
We have seen drivers complain of seat warming.

I think it must be Mercedes. The way the floor scrapes until quali and then not so much on Sunday, makes them the suspects.

It could also be Mclaren. They've had plenty of liberal interpretations of the regulations this year.

Yeah, I agree, it's odd that this year there is a lack of a transparency. This is at least the second occasion of a new directive seemingly without evidence of a team violation, or at least, a specific call-out. Ever since Ferrari engine-gate 2019...

This makes me straight out say it's Mclaren. If it was any other team they would probably say who it was, but you can't destroy the beautiful fairytale of the underdog suddenly winning everything out of the blue, and producing "competition" with a very "grey zone" car (front and back wings, now possibly this, who knows what else).
