Looks like many members will find this video quite revealing. Parc Ferme details at 7:22

in those 2 hours they can change the height by pretending to work on the driver seat or the pedals
if those cameras work during those 2 hours they should watch all the old footage

I am sure they will now.

I did find the demo showed - and unless that demo is a bit of a ruse to throw the FIA off - as too obvious to do in front of a scrutineer too often before they felt something was off - why is this mechanic always putting this 50cm tool in the footwell of the car. Its not like it was a small screw driver in the palm of their hand that could be well hidden.

Impossible no, just I think if the FIA miss that the any team is going to get away with an awful lot.

Video proceeds to show mechanics reaching into cockpit

What isn't revealed in the video though is the list of items which can be "checked".
These include but aren't limited to...

[*]mirrors, seat belts and pedals and the drinks bottle
[*]Onboard cameras, marshalling systems and timing transponders
[*]The brake system can be bled, engine oil can be drained, compressed gases can be drained or added
[*]Engines can be started, fuel added or removed and a fuel breather fitted and spark plugs can be removed to allow internal engine inspections and cylinder compression checks. Energy storage devices can also be charged or discharged.

Anyone of those can mean a mechanic is reaching or needing access to the footwell. Right?

There are many things adjustable on an f1 car, some quite easy and illegal under Parc ferme. The fact that RB has an easy to adjust bib is not an infraction on its own. Still looking for proof it was adjusted, that the crime.

The budget cap is obviously not tight enough if teams can spend resources on something like this if it is never used. ( ) BTW, I love stuff like this, and they should all be up to it or they are not trying hard enough.

Zak Brown seems to be doubling down on other methods of adjustment, I'm sure he knows more but can't say anything. That's why he's talking out of the side of his mouth about the FIA looking into it. You can't say they are cheating without proof, but if you know they did, lets say an ex engineer said something, without "proof" he can only say is the FIA will look into it and find out if they did.

How can anyone say this after all that has been revealed? It was obviously used, plenty. This is a perfectly legal and very nice system to speed up setup changes...

Horner said the method has been in place for 3 years too.

Don't go thinking I have a downer on it, just the opposite.

Mclaren might be starting to understand that with legal back wings it becomes a bit harder. Not even going into front wings (lol, just watch any onboards on that).

It's becoming clear this whole story was a smear campaign by McLaren to deflect from the further changes they've had to make to their flexi rear wings this weekend.

Just been watching the sprint qualifiers and was interested in what Christian Horner didn't have to say. When asked if it was a "non story" Horner waffled about anything other than saying "yes it was". I'm not sure he has done the sport any favours, I'm of the opinion that the FIA have made the decision and Horner should have supported that. This isn't the first time he has promoted pit Lane "fake news", he should be squashing these rumours not supporting them.

Re: Bib parc fermé ride height trick

Here's a question I am confused about with this 'front bib height altering' trick

the lowest point of the chassis/car is defined in the regulations as being at z = 0. The plank is attached to the floor, and the upper surface of the plank is required to be attached to the floor.

"The upper surface of the plank assembly must lie at Z=0, so that no air can pass between it and the Floor Body or Bib lower surfaces."

If the front bib, thus also plank, height can be adjusted, but the fixing at the other end of plank is solid, the plank is no longer straight/level, it will curve downwards along its length.

Which means by definition that some part of the upper surface of the plank does not lie at Z = 0. If you bend the front of the front bib down compared to the rest of the car/floor, and the bottom of it becomes the lowest point of the car, then the upper surface of the front of the plank will be at Z=0, but the rear of the plank won't be. so the car will not meet the rules.
