Says here that any driver who gives up his seat in FP1 for a rookie will be given an extra set of mediums in FP2.
Might not be all that bad for Lando?

it's not really an additional set. It's a set of mediums from the normal selection all drivers have to return after FP2. Everyone else just doesn't get to use it, as they are only allowed to use test tires.

But yeah, altogether, it should not be too bad. Especially as the tire test is a comparison, old vs new, so they also get to drive on normal tires.

Didnt take long for Kimi to damage Lewis' car, but i guess this wasnt really his fault. James Hinchcliffe said the car has minor damage from running over the debris

Looks a smash between bearman and Albon.
Mess with the Bull - you get the horns.

Albon is feeling the pressure from Colapinto, making silly mistakes.

Bearman on a slow lap, Albon lost control by himself.

It's kinda weird though that Norris will barely get any meaningful practice. Only McLaren could be in a title fight and give up the only real practice session for their lead protagonist.
Yep, utterly ludicrous thing to do. Add it to the list of self inflicted reasons why they will lose this championship.
The rules are that every F1 driver has to give up a FP1 session for a young driver during the 2024 season. McLaren likely decided this was the best track to do it for Lando.

not sure really who's to blame there. I just watched both onboards, and Bearman just slowed down in the middle of the corner. Albon didn't expect it, caught his dirty air and lost the car.

He lost control off the kerbs. Bearman wasn't going fast enough for dirty air to impact at that distance through the corner IMHO and he was slow to the side off the line with 2 wheels off the road.

If that's enough to cause that crash then Albon has to hope the closest car in front of him in the race is 4-5 seconds ahead or he's going to crash again.

Bearman did nothing wrong there.

dunno, I don't think anyone else would normally have gone completely off-throttle at that point of the track.

edit: But yeah, maybe not dirty air, but more like an overreaction after getting caught by surprise.

Bearman didn't do much wrong but he backed off in an unexpected place during a flat-out corner sequence.

Albon had to bail out, lost control and clipped the Ferrari.

Comedy gold, now Mercedes looks to be the fastest car on this circuit.
