Sensational Q3 laps by Sainz. I think that was the theoretical limit (the 2nd Q3 lap) of the Ferrari. The lap of his life. This is 'peak Sainz'.

He's setting the bar pretty high for Hamilton. If this is the way Sainz is finishing 2024 (completely liberated, doesn't care even if he crashes, no stake in the team's cause anymore), it will surely put Hamilton under massive pressure for 2025. I know how ridiculous it sounds ; but considering that Hamilton is getting older (he is human afterall) and waning w.r.t his body's ability to translate this mind's commands, the concern is real.

Tremendous laps by Max as well. But the Redbull wont hold a candle to Ferrari/McLaren in the race. In case the track temp is cold, and the Mercs comes alive, Max's challenge tomorrow is going to be to keep the Mercs behind.

Ferrari now has got one of the strongest drivers pairing on the grid. I am sure many Tifosi would rather keep Sainz then to have Lewis replacing him. Hope Sainz will get to win one more race for Ferrari before moving to Williams next year.

Sainz should give max the tow down to T1. The tow might get Lec past Norris as well
Usually, the guy starting 3rd gets a good tow here.

Perez will have a miracle start to challenge for the lead into t1 then get binned by clipping max, taking both out of the race. A contract extension will be announced in Brazil

Sainz may choose to give max and Leclerc a tow rather than Lando

I wouldn't think it makes much sense. That side of the grid is pretty dirty

Perez recently had dinner with the Thai owners of RB. I very much doubt that he will be gone next year.
Perez has seen stuff. He's making sure people know.
He has indeed seen stuff. Like the back of the grid, gravel, barriers, tracklimits.

Yes it does. Comical. The recency bias is amazing. The same Carlos Sainz who has achieved one podium in the last eight races, is over sixty pts behind CL, and pretty much bins it in Q every other weekend, is now suddenly a driving god.

Thankgod Fred knows what he’s doing. It was this so called strong pairing that allowed Merc to finish second in the WCC last year.

Forum of nonsense, but do carry on.

If Sainz keeps it straight and doesn't move out of place, then Lando gets the tow. Before the braking though, Sainz might move to keep inside line. Alternatively, If Sainz moves right and then Max moves left, then Max can steal it. Sainz is desperate to win another race before he leaves Ferrari and this is his best chance. So he would have calculated who has the better chance to overtake him and may play that way.

what part of "if this is the way Sainz is finishing 2024...." didn't you understand ?
I understand the urge to take 'the big picture moral high ground' , but that comment from you is classic trigger-happy-ness.

Sainz has nothing to lose and can choose to brake as late as he can, after grabbing the inside line. He knows Max and Norris won't risk a DNF.
TBH, I expect Sainz to either crash (taking either Max or Norris with him) or keep the lead, and expect LeClerc and Russel to gain a place or two.

While the first 4/5 grid slots grab all the attention for lap1 T1, I expect to see a proper skirmish between P11 and P12 - Tsunoda v Lawson. One is a volcano waiting to explode and the other is for all practical purposes a rookie keen to impress. If these two are back-to-back after T1, expect a spectacular battle in the first 3-4 laps.

The big point will be first...who gets off the line well. We see Max doing this like a clockworks...so first thing is if Carlos or Lando take their together...50% bad starts. Might be that after 100m Max simply leads or Charles is the king in the game.
Besides this Max nearly always took the inside line here. Only on his 2021 move...might be only an option if Carlos gets a superb start and Lando as usually a bad one. So I bet on inside move in T1.
We should not forget with Rus and Lec behind...there is a lot of room for T1 carnage. Magnussen also not far away.

Volcano  =D>
Yep, spicy.
I wonder what McLaren will do with Pia. I mean...just hanging it out on the Hard is not something to attack any Merc or Max. I would actually bet on some others going out on lap1 and start on Mediums, go aggressive.

I guarantee Max will already be alongside Sainz before he even gets the chance to grab the inside line.
