I really feel bad for Sainz, this is so undeserved to be dropped like that by Ferrari. It would be kind of sick if Lewis would the win WDC next year on top of the work that Sainz amongst others have done. As Sainz himself mentioned during the post qualifying press conference.
His contract simply ended and wasn't renewed, it's not like he was fired mid-contract for a shiny new thing.
It's an unfortunate situation but it's more unfortunate in the sense that Mercedes or Red Bull didn't give him a chance. This narrative that Ferrari unfairly let him go and all his current work is going to "waste" is ridiculous. It's his job as a competitive athlete to perform up until the day he leaves.
Anyway, feeling good about today and the chances for a 1-2. I saw the post on Twitter about how P4 is not a good starting position, but hopefully, even if Leclerc can't get ahead on lap one, he can undercut his way ahead. Both drivers had great pace in their long run simulations so I'm feeling positive.
