Oscar had a bad race in Mexico but has matched norris point for point in the second half of the season.. McLaren just as fast as redbull in the first half of the season

Lots of wishful thinking here. Truth is Norris blew his opportunity to win the WDC when he had a similar points gap to Max post Miami and post the summer break. Max qualified 2nd in Mexico, he will probably qualify top 3 in the remaining races. It's done.
Norris didn't blow it. The team and Piastri blew it for him.

And all of those actions might also cost the WCC if they aren't lucky.
Norris is solely responsible for blowing at least three wins: Barcelona, Hungary, and Spa. He also shares the blame with his team for Silverstone and with Max for Austria.

The weather is not to our favor

https://www.accuweather.com/en/br/aut%C ... 180172_poi

The Sprint Qualification and Fp1 with wet then on Friday the Sprint Race and Race Qualification in dry and high propabily for wet race day.

Interlagos is known for some wacky races in the wet
If we want to be champions, we must be fast in all conditions on all tracks
So true. Is not like is raining only for McLaren. Of course, if you have a fast car, dry is better, but things may happen in wet and could be in your favor or against you. Is not like you can control weather. Let's hope for a clean (incident free) race and I trust at least Lando can have a good drive, although I saw also Oscar is ok on wet track. Vs. McLaren boys, Charles is less than average on rain, at least couple of seasons, and Carlos is not excellent either. In wet I see a battle with Max, Lewis and maybe George.

Only Lando Norris received new parts. At the final of the Mexican Grand Prix, the world championship runner-up demonstrated what the new development is worth. The older the tires, the more Norris caught up. This is usually Ferrari's domain. Team Principal Andrea Stella noted with satisfaction: "We put Ferrari in a difficult position on the Ferrari track. With the update, we are back on their level."

You guys carrying on like clickbaiters. Really, armchair experts, McLaren were not expected to challenge for any titles in 2024, just the odd win. Suddenly they are being called "fastest" and "dominant". Both are very arbitrary, especially in a season of such small margins. F1 hasn't always been like Mercedes 2014 - 2020 and Red Bull 2021 - 2023. Seven drivers have won GPs in 4 different cars (sorry Checo). Catching Max was always going to be difficult with his early season wins. Then one person suggested Lando could overhaul 80 points (never been done before) and everyone is on the bandwagon. Some people were suggesting Oscar should be made to play the donkey with 10 races to go. McLaren were messing up. People got so invested in their desire for another champion for whatever reasons.

Even with some of the wheel to wheel failings of Lando, it's just unfair. He has only had a truly competitive car since Miami, Max has had a competitive car for 4 years and has developed his race craft enormously. Even if Lando (or Oscar) don't rise to Max's brilliant best he (they) deserve our tremendous respect. We the fans aren't owed anything. Sure there's been times where McLaren's race strategies have been somewhat.... green, Hungary, Silverstone mainly, leading the WCC came as a lovely surprise. I agree it will be a bitter pill but to say Oscar could cost them the WCC is frankly outrageous. His Baku win was arguably the gutsiest of the year in a car which was not the clear fastest.

Well Said... =D>

Montoya tells Norris to “stop playing the victim” in duel with Verstappen:
Juan Pablo Montoya has advised Lando Norris to adopt a more aggressive approach when racing against Max Verstappen, suggesting that Norris’s current style won’t win the long-term battle. Montoya noted that Norris often appears to step aside for Verstappen.

“Max is the bully. As a racer, it is not what you want to see but it is a smart play. Max is more used to guys like Lewis [Hamilton] who wouldn’t stop at taking him out,” Montoya said in conversation with Instant Casino.

– He explained Verstappen’s strategies, either using his car’s speed advantage or taking risks to secure points.

“If he realises he lacks speed with his RB20, he can try to ‘run Lando over and crash and take the points away.’ Or if he doesn’t have the position to do that, he will just ride around and take the points. That’s all he has to do. It’ll be hard for Lando to win from here.”

– Montoya believes Norris must change his approach to have a chance in the Championship, advocating for a stronger stance against Verstappen.

“When you have a guy like Lando who is very fast and a very clean driver, you can’t go trying to fight a championship against Max with Lando saying how much respect he has for him and he’s the best driver in the world! You might think that, but he shouldn’t be saying that publicly. I really like Lando, but he needs to speak a little less and not play the victim. You won’t win by playing the victim. You might win some battles, but you are going to lose the war.”

– Looking ahead to the Brazilian GP, Montoya expects more intensity in their rivalry, advising Norris to take a firmer stance.

“At some point Lando needs to stand his ground and say, ‘Screw you, I can crash into you and it’s ok,’” he concluded.

Thanks Juan, but if both Lando and Max dnf it practically seals the deal for Max and he knows this.

More aggressive is no longer on the cards.

Related to this, in Brazil full upgrades on both cars:

Probably not if you consider 2024, but maybe JP is targeting next F1 years of Lando and Max. If Max knows that Lando is ready to crash into him, or to race as hard as Max is doing, he will think twice before doing "Mexico" moves. This year Max is allowing to lose some point as long as Lando is doing the same, but maybe next year this game will not play in his favor, and losing to Lando means other driver with chances may take the lead (Leclerc, Hamilton, Oscar etc).

Sheesh there’s an admission.

We could do for Mclaren to be on the ‘next level’ really. Hopefully what ever upgrade they bring to Brazil puts them marginally ahead- however I fear the updates being taken to Brazil which Stella is referring to is only to upgrade Oscars car to Norris’ spec.
We’ll see though- I’m hoping to see another ‘performance’ upgrade on the car submission form tomorrow. It will be what it’ll be

It's part of a pattern. Miami, Austria last year. One car brings the new parts, the other provides the benchmark. There's been some chat that the McLaren has gradually become trickier to drive. This often comes with narrow operating window. Mexico, Oscar was very quick until Q1 and then lost the feel, drove uncharacteristically crazy, hands sawing on the wheel. His comments after the race were that he felt it went much better than Austin, just a bad qual. We need him back to <0.1 off Lando again.

Seems that we have a new RW (at least the shape)? MCL38 is something different this weekend vs his main rivals.

To be fair though, we're ahead on points, so same level isn't so bad a place to be lol
If I come across as blunt, I apologise, it's my ASD. Sometimes, like an F1 car aqua-planing, it gets out of my control.
