8+25...cause 2 laps to go at least Perez, Tsunoda and Lawson will pit for new softs
Focus on WCC. To get WDC you need luck and other drivers to beat Max. Just focus on getting 1-2 and ignore the rest.Mansell89 wrote: ↑01 Nov 2024, 22:41Good signs, two good laps. Big opportunity to make a Constructors Championship statement.
Of course the weather will test everyone but we look good in high downforce areas and our two are good rain drivers- the issue is Max can likely get on the podium in the rain.
Yeah and McLaren have had poor luck with weather when in dominating positions - Canada, Silverstone.Balalu wrote: ↑02 Nov 2024, 02:09I knew McLaren were going to be good in SQ since early in FP1.
In FP1 they went out, set quick laps and started the race runs early. You could tell they felt confident.
It's a pitty that when McLaren is so good here, rain (propably) comes along throwing spanners at their wheels.
Wearing your heart on your sleeve leaves you vulnerable - that's what I mean. Like even today with a great P2 on the Sprint grid he wore his heart on his sleeve and revealed the inner pessimist (and I had the sound down, but it was obvious)! He can say as much as he likes "that's just me", about being the glass half empty guy, but it's a negative attitude, not a fighting one. He is a great talent and then makes himself a target for all sorts of rubbish by what he says and the "stinking thinking". Driver psychology is an important area - it isn't you've either got it or not. If you haven't got it, you need to work on it. As a person and a driver that I really like, Lando continually disappoints me that he hasn't conquered this stuff. I suspect he has found a kindred spirit in Will Joseph who protects this mindset and they both end up with muddled thinking. But I'm not there so I'm only making an educated guess.McL-H wrote: ↑01 Nov 2024, 14:23I don’t understand. He seems to be one of the most active social media posters on the current grid and he regularly posts things that are just fodder for his oponents.mwillems wrote: ↑01 Nov 2024, 12:24Indeed. I'm not sure what Red Bull are up to, but there is part of me that thinks they are holding on for the WDC and focussed on 25 earlier than the others so they can focus on the 26 car earlier than the others.
Re: the drivers. I will never agree that in the absence of one driver being able to assert himself on the team and make himself a number 1 driver that it should happen artificially. If Oscar is taking points from Lando, it's because Lando isn't doing a good enough job to prevent it and there lies the issue.
I have huge respect for Lando, the team and their approach to racing. Only thing I'd ask of Lando is if he were a bit more robust and savvy on track and he stepped up on that last weekend.
Everybody works differently. Some people motivate themselves by telling themselves they are the best and some do it by constantly telling themselves they need to improve. Don't assume to know his mindset.BMMR61 wrote: ↑02 Nov 2024, 03:02Wearing your heart on your sleeve leaves you vulnerable - that's what I mean. 8 if McLaren continues to demonstrate that they mediocre in managing interests of the team, otherwise it should be 10.
