I've seen something that no Qualifying goes in championship order.
This is wrong.

This happens if:
A) No FP is held
B) FP is held but FIA proclaimed that it is not a competitive session (heavy rain or similar).

I wish F1TV would cover these things instead of weather maps.
I then went and saw that is likely for next year.

I'm seeing Skysports and they mentioned that it will be a rule for 2025.

In 20 minutes we will learn if there is gonna be a qualifying session or not. It's the last chance they will have before it goes dark. I don't think it will happen though. It's raining more than what they are cleaning.

I believe sprint result will determine the starting grid then, as it’s the last competitive session they’ve had. But someone correct me if I’m wrong.

I don't think there is any set rule

A normal weekend, they would go off FP3.

On a sprint weekend if they can't get sprint quali in they go off FP1 for the print race but there doesn't seem to be an actually written rule for the main race. Speculation it could be from sprint quali, or the sprint race results not black and white rule different teams are reading the rule book differently.

Not sure if it relevant but I went on the F1 timing app during ‘qualifying’ today and the order they had the cars before any running was the finishing order from FP1

I think it is clearly FP1 results if no qualy.

But they will do everything to run it.

I'm late to the party but great sprint Race, again a bit of unnecessary drama about the swap of the positions but ended all okey for us.

The weather situation can be another SPA fiasco, I hope we can race tomorrow.

Hope this isn’t another GP when dominance is undone by weather.

Qualifying is now set for 7:30 a.m. local time in São Paulo (10:30 GMT), while the race has been moved up from 14:00 to 12:30 (15:30 GMT).

However, more rain is forecast for Sunday in São Paulo. But the adjusted times should give F1 and the FIA the best opportunity to complete both qualifying and the race.

Regarding order if no quali may be done then there is no clear statement in the regulation. It will be up to the Stewards to decide if they consider:
a) FP1 order
b) sprint quali order
c) championship order (this will be valid starting 2025 rules since an agreement for 2024 was not reached).

Anyway, McLaren is well placed in all 3 options.

Regarding that the thing which we shouldn't even dignify by talking about it, the Horner philosophy is throw enough s%#t around and something will stick. Of course it's a flawed philosophy because people want to see what's stuck to your own hands.

Red Bull are currently 63 points behind in the WCC and there's a good chance after the next round they will have lost the championship. The RB tears are flooding Sao Paulo and I'm enjoying the spectacle.

Race being moved to earlier is good news. More room to delay for favorable weather if needed (I think they can delay the start).

Another potential benefit is shorter window to run qualifying. If they use FP1, SQ, SR or even championship results it always is good for McLaren. Best obviously if it is FP1 but that would cause an uproar (even though it seems to be the rule).
