Looks like Max was just unlucky with the crashes. On his first lap he had Aston in the wall in S1 and he backed off (or at least looked like he did, there was a snap of oversteer for Max as well).

Red flag could end the qualifying if the rain intensifies

Not a bad starting grid if this happens.

Considering it might start raining heavier after that red flag I think 1-3 is a good start and I don't think Piastri will have a problem passing Albon in a lap or two.

Why is Mclaren so good in intermediate conditions compared to wet ones?

Any word on the rain radar? P1 and P3 would be a decent start.

Remember Lando on inters at Canada - 2 seconds a lap faster than everyone!

Decent? That would be amazing for both championships. I just hope SAI fights hard if VER comes next to him.

NOR P1
PIA P3
LEC P6
PER P12
SAI P13
VER P17

If you could choose starting spots it's hard to make it better for McLaren. But we need to know that wet race could mean big swings in performance.

In my opinion it's best to keep going. and do our job. If the rain drops harder then all is well. Until then let's keep making our own luck.

generally if its wet enough for full wets, they red flag race as everyone will be flying off the track left right and center. So far Mclaren have had a good chunk of luck, but they have been owed it from the racing gods

Albon P2 is the best opportunity to slow down everyone behind and get a free pit

Its still intermediate conditions. Let's keep doing lap after lap improving. We should make our own luck.

I think it stopped raining completely but I don't think it will dry for softs in 6 mins.

No rain till end of session. So a lot to be played. Good news is P8 is worst place for remaining drivers, as both AM are locked in P9 and P10.

How about waiting for 10 minutes for quali to actually be over, instead of inventing made up scenarios which most likely won't happen?
