Clearly those other quotes were taken out of context.

https://www.the-race.com/formula-1/land ... ian-gp-f1/

“We weren’t quick enough,” said Norris.

“Max was easily quicker than us so I think if he [started] from the front, he probably would have lapped us. The pace was, I think, similar to George [Russell], but the Red Bull was way faster.”
I’m probably spamming but everytime I see someone post saying Lando is salty or Lando thinks Verstappen won by luck I just post this link

https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/norri ... /10670337/
As soon as I saw that twitter headline it was hugely clear it was deliberate misrepresentation. But even so, I like that he's starting to not care what people think. More please.

I get the feeling anyway the worst penalty they should’ve given them was a 5 sec penalty but it wouldn’t have really made a difference.

So positives from this GP. We increased the distance from Ferrari to 36 points from 29 and we have 3 more races to get our act together and finish as Constructor Champions. Let's go and win the last 3 races as there won't be another unlucky situation like that.

I hope Lando Norris takes this year as a huge lesson and start being aggressive with Max to the point of giving him his own medicine and hopefully our car is top from the start in 2025.

I think McLaren will get the WCC todays I thunk they were quicker that the Ferraris by a decent enough margin. But poor setup for the wet they really. Couldn’t take advantage without clean air with DRS I think he passes easily enough

It will be close but enough confidence from this weekend I think.

Just to remind everyone, Leclerc and Verstappen got double that penalty for a swear word in a press conference.
I think Johnny Herbert should not be allowed anywhere near the stewards room from now on...

Well it's his job to apply the FIAs rules. He could always tell the FIA to f*ck off, but then Johnny will get fined too 😆

I have to say I was expecting at least a huge fine. I'm surprised.

So much pooping on Lando. The best of them bar Max made mistakes today.

Lewis's race was a mess, is he not championship material? What about Charles these last couple of races? The car was simply not the best in these conditions and our boys were pushing to their limits.

They both finished the race, some of the others did not, including Sainz. Lando and Oscar are 2 of the reasons why McLaren are leading the WCC.

Somehow I knew the rain was going to mess it all up for us this weekend.

On to the next one.

The strangest thing from race control when 3 drivers have breached the rules to delete one lap from a race :
"noted, will evaluate after the race"
What is there to evaluate ? It was a binary yes/no decision - cars drove off on yellow lights.
What stewards' message really meant :
"we will decide based on race result in case there is going to be big repercussion on championship fight"

Exactly this!
I'm not surprised to see Norris and Mercedes get away with small fines.
I get the feeling that because Max finished ahead of them both they decided no harm done and sod Ferrari!
Had Max only finished I don't know, P5/6/7 with both Lando and Russel ahead, I am convinced they would have both been penalized with a time penalty, they would have had no choice but to do so because there would have been a massive stink kicked up had they not! Ultimately they screwed Ferrari over!

As I said on Friday, I hope this isn't another event where we lost a near dominant car to changing weather. Canada, Silverstone, arguably Spa qualifying and now Brazil all went against a car which should have won. Oh well, both our guys scored points (again) where the smallest error could destroy a car. We extend in the WCC. Watch out for Ferrari at Las Vegas, Qatar should be strong, then the final. The trick is to stay aggressive but not too aggressive. We should all agree that today was just one of those things, Max deserves it.

Best part of today's result in my opinion is the hyperventilating over the drivers championship should fade away. All the "McLaren have robbed Lando" will have to be forgotten by their authors. If we took a forward look before the season started at what would be a good outcome, most people would probably have said 3rd best car (WCC?). As it is, I'll take it. Still a bit to be done but it would be nice to finish 2024 strongly.

But that doesn't make sense. With Norris losing out heavily to Verstappen they could have given him a big penalty as it doesn't matter anymore. It would be much bigger issue if Norris won with a small margin and then the penalty would be potentially a big difference.

Or are you trying to claim they wanted to help Verstappen so if he finished behind, they would penalize Norris heavily. I'm sure you are not, but that would only make sense.

I agree they should have given the penalty immediately and not let it hang over their heads but I understand that they can't really go through all the rules and interpretations while the race is ongoing.

Agreed. I am happy that it almost certainly will not end up close with Verstappen so that we can go back and think about Austria (17 points swing), Hungary (7 points) and Italy (3 points) that Norris could have scooped up. Imagine how frustrating that would be. In a similar way I hope we don't miss out on WCC due to mistakes.

The season (and the car) went above all expectations. Some bad luck did go our way, that has to be said but the team also invited some bad luck by being indecisive. Drivers also made some mistakes that they need to work on. Norris needs to work on his starts and restarts, Piastri on his consistency.
