Looks like Carlos' new PU gave him 1-1.5 tenths on the straights against Charles.

Looked like over 2 tenths across the lap actually. If it carries over to race pace, and no reason it won't, he's gonna have an easier time getting the win no doubt. I expect he'll attack Russell into T14 on first lap actually

We sure Sainz is not running less DF than Lec? Seems kinda op to have this much advantage in engine alone.

LEC has to keep VER behind in the first 3 laps tomorrow... I don't know how but hopefully he can do it.

Red bull is not passing anyone here unless it's at the start, they have some pace in corners but lose twice that on straights, and ferrari is super fast on those. Leclerc will overtake him first chance he gets if he loses out at the start.

Both cars have always run the same wings this season, all 3 of them. They are again exactly the same here, down to g flap use. It's not a huge difference in top speed, but it's 1-2-3 kmh up on every point. Long straights here and a lot of them, it adds up. It probably won't be more than a tenth up in Qatar and AD

Sainz has bounced back brilliantly after that awful weekend in Brazil. Ferrari really need to take advantage of this opportunity. Anything less than a 1-2 is not acceptable. They need a good clean start and some bravery on the brakes, but it could be a great day tomorrow for the WCC.

Hmmm, just remembered Sainz vs Russell at Cota last year ... Would prefer Carlos to bide his time than go for the lead against Russell in T1 actually.

Ah good, I said (elsewhere) that I thought Ferrari would be a more logical outcome than Honda as they need to keep pace with Mercedes and can’t let them have too much associated voting power.

Off topic but I’m very pleased it’s an 11th team and a proper American team - the former because I grew up with bigger grids and I think it adds interest; the latter because it’s a global sport and we need to expand beyond so much Anglo/Euro-centrism.

Ferrari gone wrong with the setup...all the focus on redbull before the race ..but they are bang on with the setup

Mercedes 1 , 3 and redbull probably 2...ferrari will be 4th and 5th...only positive would be we will be ahead of mclaren

I don't blame Sainz at all here. He was asking to pit for multiple laps and the cars around were pitting. Ferrari had almost four laps to get ready. Insane fumble from them.

Agreed… and add onto the fact they pitted Charles right in front of Carlos who’s tyres are up to temperature too… seriously, a drop in performance on the pit wall today compared to the momentum we’ve had earlier in the year.
