Why didnt Sainz get a penalty for crossing the pit entry line? it would be embarrassing is McLaren don't protest

They've nothing to gain i think. I think that would be a 5 second penalty, so Sainz would lose the podium, but would still be Ferrari P3+P4.

I think it’s only a penalty if the race director tells them pre-race/ event like for the pit entry at Austria

Maybe they don't want Leclerc to get closer to Norris? Or maybe it's no penalty at all.

Karun mentioned that Mclaren had a Baku wing that could have been better suited here but never brought it. Did we lose most of the time in straights or at the turning section?

On another note good job for the team for at least doing damage limitation in a GP that clearly didn't suit the team. The next two GPs should be perfect for Mclaren.

My bad, i read wrong on the timings.

But i don't think it's illegal for this race, as someone else pointed out. I just pulled up the Race Directors events notes, and there's no mention of it.

From what i remember: Unless otherwise stated, you're allowed to cross the pit line if you're NOT pitting, but not if you're pitting. So it's perfectly legal to cancel pitting at the very last second.

They do this all the time in e.g. Brazil crossing the entry and exit, after the Senna Ss or before the start. If you cross the entry all the time they'll tell you to stop, but doing it once usually doesn't result in anything.
