Wonder what will happen if the kerbs still butcher the tyres. I guess only FP1 and the sprint to see if they are damaging the inner sidewalls.

Why would they? The nasty kerbs that were causing issues have been removed.

Those MB (if they understand how they got there in Las Vegas) had an awful lot of usable down force, it'd not be a surprise to see them at the front again.

Dont think much will translate from LV to Qatar. And it's not like Merc will have all the sudden figured things out after three years simply cuz of one good race where everything fell into place for them.

If anything, I'm anticipating them to struggle a fair bit.

I wasn't basing it on a general trend, but completely on its ultimate performance there in a race that just asked for as much downforce as possibly available, but still quite fast in a straight line, it really did outperform all others.

It'll be interesting to see how it now plays out in this one, obviously different circumstances, still some similar controlling factors though in my view of it.

I reckon on close top ten lap times though. Very close.

Mercedes was already fast here last year. They qualified 2nd and 3rd. Russell climbed up through the field pretty easily after falling to the back after lap 1. Russell and Toto have already stated that they were expecting Qatar to suit them this year. Qatar is very smooth. Their car likes to run low and stiff. It's a rear limited car on a front limited circuit. Perfect for them with the nighttime conditions.

I think the Ferrari drivers said the best they can hope for is a P5 IIRC. In that frame, Mercedes being up front with McLaren sounds reasonable.

If it’s a front limited circuit then any high expectations for Mclaren should be tempered, Norris says that its their weakness…. Unless that last stint in Vegas was a eureka moment.

McLaren's cars have been front limited for at least 6 seasons now. They did fine last year.

They did and so did Mercedes, I just don’t think it’s going to be all Mclaren this weekend though as some are suggesting. Max will be strong too.
Pumped after his title win and he also went well in Qatar last season too.

How can they send him out with a faulty setup, and to think many were asking for Bono to go to Ferrari with him? Lol
