Normal citizens are a big part of lawmaking, it's called democracy. Lawmakers can write the rules, but people set the agenda and vote them in. Same basic principle with drivers. I'm not expecting George Russell to literally write the rules, but he and others should influence them.

I agree they should influence. But is fans have been asking for rule changes like change the order of sprint and qualifying to remove parque ferme after sprint.

Track limits were not a thing in 2021 and if you look at Hamilton's 2021 lap you will see just how much kerb they were using. Kerbs are less aggressive now, but the drivers just can't use as much track as they could in 2021.

Russell made a large mistake at T4, Verstappen got the final corner wrong. Take away both mistakes and they end up about equal

There was no mistake from verstappen, this is just what the car can do. RB20 was crap in final corner in every lap this weekend and it didn't change in qualifying. If you look at Verstappen's best 3 laps you'll see his fastest T16 is on the pole lap:
