Because he hit him….lol.f1isgood wrote: ↑08 Dec 2024, 15:18That is not an explanation. There was enough space on the inside, car is alongside and is at no point pushing the car even off the track. Piastri can't just expect to leave space and then expect a car trying to overtake him to disappear.
Drivers simply expect to take the racing line when other cars are near them? Lol.
To not get spun around when they're in a crucial WCC fight? Max probably factored how defensive the McLarens could afford to be into his divebomb equation.. but piastri proved to be more robust than he probably should've been
For sure, but this is a political sport so will never happen.organic wrote: ↑08 Dec 2024, 15:27Yea the stewards were very harsh in these lap 1 situations. It would be nice if we had the same standards for every grand Prix so people knew what to expect
So you agree then that it was overly optimistic and the penalty was deserved so stop posting asking how Verstappen deserved it
Still, point remains that a 10s penalty for such first lap incidents is rather rare, and it's not uncommon in these situations for the outer car to go wide, while the inner is summoned to simply give the place back.
Verstappen will have to change how he drives I guess
I do not agree it was overly optimistic. Max was well along the inside and did not expect Piastri to squeeze him. Especially not from someone who had more to loose in the first corner of the race.
