I'm hopeful that the 2025 car is competitive from the 1st race and that we don't need to wait months for the 1st major update as with previous years, with any luck it could make the end of the season far less nailbiting. Today was far to stressful after the verstappen manoeuvre.
I am too, it feels like they have a good handle on where they are at. weren't really any updates that failed this year. Still have a higher CFD and Wind Tunnel time until the end of Dec. Probably the only team this year that didn't seem to have a major weakness, or period (aside from the first few rounds aside) where they went backwards.

Firstly, huge congratulations. It was an incredible effort to field two cars across 24 race weekends plus 6 sprints and have ZERO mechanical DNFs and for Oscar to complete every race lap and only fail to be in the points once (Sainz collision). This is eighties level McLaren, you couldn't wish for this reliability. Since Miami, the car has been podium capable if not dominant for pace. If you view the WCC graph it is almost a straight line from that update, showing how everything they added to the car was either neutral or beneficial while our competitors often struggled with new upgrades.

Let's be gracious in victory even though some were in our minds unreasonable in their criticisms. Criticisms should be well received if valid but some were just unfair and I would pick out Will Buxton as probably the worst. On the other hand ex racer pundits like Brundle were superb in their judgements as was Mark Hughes. We don't need to gloat and say "I told you so" because we are under papaya rules - "Don't eat the poisoned biscuit". YESSSSSSS!!!

Quick question guys- what’s it worth financially to win the Constructors Championship?
Supposedly $140 million

Super happy we won, Lando really carried us. Piastri did a decent recovery drive but his crash into Colapinto could have been another reason we lost the championship. At the end he was 8 seconds behind P8 and 12 seconds behind P7. If Sainz managed to overtake Lando it would have been critical that we get at least P8.

I'm happy that Piastri held his ground against Verstappen. He will learn that he can't bully McLaren drivers off the track.

There will be a bit extra in prize money (about 30m more than last year) and then likely some bonus payments from sponsors. We'll also be able to get better sponsors and charge more

On the F1TV commentary the names of any of the design team was not mentioned once during the race – in fact there was zero mention of the engineering team what so ever. Giles Richards in The Guardian did an article about McLaren’s winning the constructors championship & there too was zero mention of the engineering team. I have read the last 4 pages of this thread & again no mention of the design team.

In the English speaking world the status of engineers is so low that they are equated with mechanics and plumbers.

I had to resort to Google to learn the names of the designers of this car. The car that trounced the one coming from the only current design engineer who has any public recognition = Adrian Newey.

Goood morning!!! Woke up in the morning and entered on this forum to see if wasn't a dream about last night and McLaren is Formula 1 world champions 🤣🤣
But is real, we are the champions of the world. First time since 1998 when I remember walking up early in the morning to see the titanic battle between Mika and Michael at Suzuka. I hardly believe that 26 years passed.
Or, as someone said earlier, first title since 2007, when only a spygate artificial case took away the title from Woking moving in a certain part (where FIA tried to move also this year). But this is past. Let's enjoy this moments and to see also some amazing things about this year:
● Oscar 4th driver in history with 100% laps record in a 24 races year
● Lando 3rd McLaren driver with at least 8 poles in a season
● With Lando classified 20th on Austria, so in FIA records not an DNF, McLaren is the first team in history finishing all the races with both drivers.
So the reliability, the effort, the hard work, the wind tunnel correlation, the strategy errors etc etc...brought us this wonderful 2024.
Next step is fighting also for WDC in 2025 right from Melbourne. We can do this! 🧡🧡🧡🧡

There was an awful lot of praise on here throughout the season and specifically after the win, praising the designers, engineers, Andrea and Zak.

There were also many posts taking about where we were at race one of 2023 compared to now. Most of the other posts were congratulating the team in general with almost none just congratulating the drivers or Zak and Stella.

I'm afraid you've been quite bit lazy with reading this thread.

Wow! WCC!!! I have to admit, this is the title I wanted more out of the two. But hoping for double delight in 2025. I watched the post race show on F1TV, for some odd reason, Buxton seemed to annoint Oscar as McLaren's title contender, I'm wondering if I misheard things.
In 2018, Zak said the team were on a 5 year plan to get back to challenging for titles, so if you take out the 1 year of Covid, that lead to an extra year of stability and more or less no development, they were pretty much on schedule. It's more remarkable after the 2022/23 issues with the car. Most likely, without a change in the status quo, they wouldn't be World Constructors Champions for 2024. Well done to all involved in this incredible resurgence.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.
