By winning the WCC,Zak proved 2 things:he is not a used cars merchant like haters said about him and you can win the Constructors championship despite being a customer team,unlike what Ron Dennis always said that you must be a factory team to win the championship!!!

Congrats to the team and all McLaren fans on this thread. We have survived horrible years at which we were the backmarkers of the grid. A couple of years ago we were back, being able yo fight for podiums and an occasional victory. This year I would had been happy if we could just take some wins, to be in the championship fight next year. But the team did an amazing job building a fantastic car for our drivers much sooner than I dared to hope for. We did it! Finally, after all those years, we are a top team again. Formula One Champions! YEAHHHH!!!

This car is dead in terms of development potential. If it had more in the tank they would have brought it. Barely any change since Miami.

They don’t have a choice but to explore different things for next year if they want to stay in the battle.

There was definitely change since Miami. They brought several major packages that did drastically improve the car from "barely better than Red Bull" to "clearly better than Red Bull". It just wasn't obvious that they were improving because Ferrari came roaring back after Monza and developed their car even faster than McLaren.

Please list these several major packages after Miami.

I know that Mclaren had at least 7 RW configurations and 4 beam wings all year,so there were updates.

was likely true when he said it. Stopped being true in 2018 with the dictate from fia, even more so now with the budget cap

Everyone must remember that it was not an easy walk.

Not to mention the laying off of staff during Covid.
Selling assets to stay afloat.

This is just amazing work by the whole team, guided by a fantastic leadership group.
Zak has well and truly cemented himself into McLarens history book as a legend for the team.

Almost feel McLaren will start as favs going into next year

I also feel as the year went on Lando learnt to be a little more aggressive with Max and play him at his own game - Mexico I think it was stood out going around the outside of Max hit the accelerator a little into the corner to get to the apex along side him knowing Max would almost certainly push him wide. Played Max a little at his own game knowing it compromised his corner exit and approach to the next corner if Max didn't . In the past Lando has been a little passive I think but I think things like that are a very good sign for him going into next year in that hes willing to push the limits a little more - don't think he will ever do that to the point Max does but it is something I think he had to learn to do if he wants to be a WDC.

I'm hopeful that the 2025 car is competitive from the 1st race and that we don't need to wait months for the 1st major update as with previous years, with any luck it could make the end of the season far less nailbiting. Today was far to stressful after the verstappen manoeuvre.

I am too, it feels like they have a good handle on where they are at. weren't really any updates that failed this year. Still have a higher CFD and Wind Tunnel time until the end of Dec. Probably the only team this year that didn't seem to have a major weakness, or period (aside from the first few rounds aside) where they went backwards.

Firstly, huge congratulations. It was an incredible effort to field two cars across 24 race weekends plus 6 sprints and have ZERO mechanical DNFs and for Oscar to complete every race lap and only fail to be in the points once (Sainz collision). This is eighties level McLaren, you couldn't wish for this reliability. Since Miami, the car has been podium capable if not dominant for pace. If you view the WCC graph it is almost a straight line from that update, showing how everything they added to the car was either neutral or beneficial while our competitors often struggled with new upgrades.

Let's be gracious in victory even though some were in our minds unreasonable in their criticisms. Criticisms should be well received if valid but some were just unfair and I would pick out Will Buxton as probably the worst. On the other hand ex racer pundits like Brundle were superb in their judgements as was Mark Hughes. We don't need to gloat and say "I told you so" because we are under papaya rules - "Don't eat the poisoned biscuit". YESSSSSSS!!!
