Even at Mercedes Bottas left a lot to be desired. For me, Hamilton only lost the 2021 championship because Masi wanted it and because Bottas didn't take points from Verstappen in the races where Mercedes was much better than RedBull. Bottas was being questioned very much that season (and the previous one) so many called for Russell's promotion before the end of the season.

This isn't fair to Bottas at all. He was a strategic factor in more races than Perez, and his win in Turkey involved far less fortune than Perez's. Further, if you want to claim Masi wanted Max to win, I'll claim hungary was intentional and therefore the only reason it was close, maybe I'll throw in the red flag collision at imola too

yup, indeed.

It's often bitched about cutting down on the floor (ultimately to hold onto safety aspect in out of range tires) but they would have been driving an absolute shed of a car concept for 21 in reality.
