Williams FW47 Speculation Thread

Post

There is not much known jet about FW47, but I have a felling that the team are more upbeat about it than they were about FW46 this time last year. JV said in that FW47 have some diffirent solutions at the rear of the car, but, that could just mean a pushrod rear suspension from Mercedes, or it could be a whole new cooling concept (It seems this is the case, see pictures below), I gues that we will found out in less that 1 month.

Here is JV talking what they are hoping to addres on FW47:

and JV here said that there are some fantastiv developments comming in 2025 and beyond:

First fireup

WATCH: FW47 fires up for the first time

Watching the first fireup again, I think I found something interesting. The rollhoop looks the same or veary similar to the one on upgraded FW46, the middle is for the engine, and the sides for cooling.

BUT, there is no big radiator at the back, like on FW46, so they moved the radiator. It is probably lower down and horizontal (similar to Mercedes I think), you can see the lines feeding coolant to the radiator bottom right. This would lower COG and make the airbox smaller, making rear wing more effivient.

FW46 for comparison:

This is all the info of FW47 that I was able to get, if anybody has something extra, please share in this thread.

Carefully evolving into more contemporary and effective design concept.

JV seems a very steady hand on the team's trajectory. It may not be spectacular, but definitely needed to re-establish good foundation in design and build etc.

At the very least, it seems the car is on schedule as the first start was a month ahead of last year's.

I'm curious to see if they use Mercedes' 2025 rear suspension. I would imagine they would want to skip the 2024 edition after not using it last year.

It seems like they moved some radiators from roll hoop, it is less bulky going towards rear wing.

Vowles says focus is on 2026 onwards & this is reflected in the 2025 car I would say:

Maybe the floor area above the "Keeper" logo is the most interesting area - this region is reminiscent of the 2022 alpha tauri
