In my own conspiracy theory, McLaren knew how fast Ferrari could go and used this knowledge to sacrifice top speed for absolute laptime (rarely done on Indy). But again, that's just my impression.
Its only ur assumption, but still their car was clearly faster
On Silverstone, Ferrari was certainly the quicker car, and this also applies to Nurburgring. Kimi missed the pitlane entry on the first lap and Massa drove slowly with the rain.
Silverstone, Alonso and Lewis lead almpost 75% of the race
Quly Mclaren 1-3, Ferrari 2-5
Nurburgring > the rain really ruined all Ferrari's pace....and Alonso was always 2 to 3 sec behind Massa...and They were
EQUAL here as i posted above
You should remember that Ferrari didn't have the 2008 rain woes in 2007.
Surely the Ferrari was slower than MClaren in rain in 2007 aswell, there are many quotes from Kimi and Massa confirming this
Ferrari compromised its Japanese GP when they insisted to start on inters, and were lucky to even start the race. I'm 100% sure Ferrari wasn't a slower car through Fuji. Kimi won easily in Shanghai, and even more so once Ron decided to race Fernando.
Fuji >> 1-2 in quly...track similar to Indy, Both Mclarens Faster than Ferraris from FP2 till quly!...Rain proving even more in favor to Mclaren
And for your Info it was not Ferrari screwing to put inters , as FIA's stupid email didnot reach them in time.(do you think they would purposly put inters even after an order from FIA?)
Sanghai?? >> Lewis was leading comfortably in rain, and we all knew what happened in the pit entry! it was Lewis screwing a race which he was easily on pace
Regarding reliability, Lewis crashed in Nurburgring with a broken wheel and Fernando's gearbox quit working in France. They were somewhat luckier in the races, though.
I was talking about race ending problems, If we go with your list then
Massa had gearbox failure in Australia
Kimi's suspension failure in Monza
And to add to all these, Mclaren knew every detail of the Ferrari car and even knew when they will pit, thanks to Stefany ........an opponent like that is going to be Stronger than the other one.
Mclaren and Ferrari had almost equal cars PACE wise
Mclaren had a BETTER car RELIABILITY wise
Mclaren had a BETTER car STRATEGICALLY
Mclaren had a BETTER car ILLEGALLY by knowing all the details about the Ferrari
