Happy for Lance to bring home some points. Though his race pace was poor.
Last year, China exposed AMR24's tragic difference between 'Quali Pace' vs 'Race Pace'. Perfect track to compare AMR25 performance.
Yeah, looking forward to China. It is also one of Alonso's best tracks!OnEcRiTiCaL wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025, 09:29Alonso was pushing to hard, was the 2nd or 3th fastest just 0.4 sec slower than Norris in that few last lap before crash.I have no idea where came that speed from. Antonelly came fast from behind, then he started to push i think. But if he could be so fast then i dont understand why he was saving for so long.Next week China ,i think Aston will be better there at quali.
Absolutely, the conditions were not easy, but 14 drivers were able to finish and STR for example did nothing wrong and benefited (horrible race pace btw).TyreSlip wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025, 15:48Norris drove off track-wkst- wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025, 11:56And gravel on track only happend to ALO in this wet race, with a lot of gravel-run-off-areas?
I don't want to know how often such incidents happend today.
The ALO community follows a little bit to much the "Kimi Räikkönen way" nowadays. There's always a reason why A or B happened and things didn't work out. I always liked the "Fernando Alonso way", just pure racing and no BS. In the end noone drove into him, he just lost the car with some gravel on track. Hopefully a better result in China.
Verstappen drove off track
Piastri drove off track and spun
Leclerc spun
Antonelli drove off track and spun
Gasly drove off track
Tsunoda drove off track
Lawson crashed
Bortoleto crashed
Sainz crashed
Doohan crashed
Hadjar crashed
This is only what we saw live or on replay. Conditions were tough yesterday when almost everyone made an error of some kind. Alonso's resulted in a race retirement. It happens. I still mitigate part of the error due to excessive gravel off turn 6 at a time when he was pushing hard to pass at the time, and I feel that is being objective.
Yeah I tend to agree, I think in race pace we are very close with those 3 teams, Vowles hinted in preseason testing, that 1 tenth separates Williams and the front end of the midfield. I really hope we're not too far from Ferrari/Merc at certain tracks and can beat Lawson.-wkst- wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025, 17:09Absolutely, the conditions were not easy, but 14 drivers were able to finish and STR for example did nothing wrong and benefited (horrible race pace btw).TyreSlip wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025, 15:48Norris drove off track-wkst- wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025, 11:56And gravel on track only happend to ALO in this wet race, with a lot of gravel-run-off-areas?

Regarding race pace people exaggerate. Yeah, ALO had 3-4 competitive laps at the end of his race, his last lap was a 28.8 (NOR still 27.6…), but you have to see also the other side that he saved tyres in a lot of race stints and lost lap time there. I don’t think there’s much between AMR, Alpine, Williams and RB. But that what’s Cowell already said before the season started. Margins will decide…
Piastri, Norris, Hamilton, Sainz all went off at different times too. Maybe they should replace all them as well?KimiRai wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025, 08:05This entire GP was a huge missed opportunity. A good qualifying you could have put it between p5-p9. Race pace wasn't as good (though better than Alpine) but overtaking was extremely difficult in these conditions so you could have held that position pretty well. Sadly it was not possible.
And now the changing conditions and craziness... this was the race that the old Fernando would excel in. But instead second mistake. I think a podium was completely possible today from his part if he'd started much further ahead. Stroll decent job but honestly he never showed any kind of real speed in the entire GP.
Fernando keeps making uncharacteristic mistakes, I keep pointing it out, and I keep getting strong reactions. But it is becoming impossible to ignore. And again, Cowell and Newey are not blind....
Hurt. The long sweeping corners would burn up the fronts if it understeered (which is what happened in China last year because the car was purposely setup to avoid the car's bad tyre slip). How much the AMR25 is understeering is to be determined.
The AMR25 is a modified version of the AMR24, I remember it was quite handy last year in Alonso's hands, at least on low fuel. Hoping for a decent result, especially as Alonso usually excels around there.
people need to just admit that they dont like alonso, and are counting the days until he is washed up so that they can say "i told you so" its bound to happen eventually (isnt it?) people mayy not remember NOW but alonso has had quite a few incidents in the wet in the past. he slid out at silverstone in a mclaren in 16 or 17 when pushing too hard chasing down somebody. im too lazy to get the specifics.. unfortunate that he didnt run a perfect race today. the good news is the car doesnt seem like its as bad as everyone feared.PinkFloydPulse wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025, 11:46Bruh...KimiRai wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025, 08:05This entire GP was a huge missed opportunity. And again, Cowell and Newey are not blind....Why are you here? Podium? In what world? Give Alonso a decent car and he won't have to overdrive it and make mistakes... They are not ditching him and Max is not joining in 2026, your fantasies are void lol
The car is still not good enough for anything, if Newey does some magic to help it turn it around Alonso won't have to overdrive it and no mistakes then. And Stroll got his position tnx to Alonso, so in theory daddys boy got direct help from Alonso. Shall we call it a Renault Singapore style setup?![]()
raikkonen was off the mark for several years before he finally retired. the difference here is that alonso still performs 9 out of 10 races and on the 11th there are people that come on specifically to point out how old he is.the two examples dont have anything in common. nobody is calling for every other driver that made mistakes in the rain (which is every driver) to be sacked. or maybe they are and i just havent been in the threads. rather harsh fanbase if thats the case. it is what it is.-wkst- wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025, 11:56And gravel on track only happend to ALO in this wet race, with a lot of gravel-run-off-areas?

And Alo happened to face a gravel trap caused by the car in front of him. I wouldn't even call it a mistake. But hey...diffuser wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025, 17:32Piastri, Norris, Hamilton, Sainz all went off at different times too. Car is much more balanced. The Team made a set upt change and removed downforce but the cars design meant it jsut made it more understeery
