I hope Yuki has a clause in this deal to go back to the white RB if it doesn't work out for him.
The blue RB seems only to suit Max.
I hope it works out for him as he has always been a tryer and he deserves a car to give him a win.
Good luck.

Red Bull could also see a boost in support from Honda with the PU. Honda always gave 100% but you can sense that there will be some extra motivation on the PU side because of Yuki's chances to win a GP.
Seriously? Lol

Honestly, disappointed. This is classic knee-jerk media pressure chickening-out decision. So on what basis did they decide 'Lawson' and not Tsunoda in the off season ? Helmut Marko's 'driver program' is shot to pieces. First, the delay in firing Ricciardo and holding on to him for sentiment ; then clinging on to Perez for an extra season knowing what will happen ; now, throwing a youngster under the bus after just two races, which brings the question (I know I am repeating - on what basis are they deciding to assign a seat to a driver ? based on a few test laps in silverstone?).

I bet Tsunoda will do the square root of jack in the RB21. Because if they knew that he is the guy better to handle a 'knife-edge' car than Lawson, why did they give it to Lawson in the first place ? See how every angle circles back to the same fundamental question ? What is the evaluation process ? They simply don't know how to address the problem and are simply doing 'random' hoping that some 'fix' will emerge by itself. It won't. This team is gone. They have had their time. This is the kind of decision making that we usually see from teams which finish P18 and P20 in a race - absolute panic.

If I was Max's agent, I would go pitch my tent on the Aston Martin campus.

The issue with Lawson is that even if it was only the first 2 races you can't be last with that car. There is just no way. It means he was doing something completely wrong.

Throwing Yuki at the problem isn't going to fix a flawed car. He did marginally better than Lawson last year with 3 (now 4) years of experience and a full offeason.
Every car on the grid is flawed in some way. I don't remember anyone saying that Kubica, Sargeant, and Latifi shouldn't have been sacked, and that the Williams was just flawed. Sainz hasn't been close to Albon either...Why won't Williams stop throwing drivers at it...
Didn't say other cars are perfect. The same Dutch source initially reporting the driver change is reporting Max is unhappy with the decision because it doesn't fix the issues with the car.
If Tsunoda can make better use of that car, then that is the way forward. It takes nothing away from car issues. Red Bull know that there only shot at the WDC is improving the car, and furthermore if the car improves, AND Tsunoda is competitive in it, then that will help Max massively in the 2nd half of the season as Tsunoda will take points away from the other teams :) .

This is the car that they have. No one is going to wave a magic wand and turn it into someone else's car in the next 4 months before everyone turns focus to 2026. So the characteristics that it has will have to be dealt with in the near future by the driver. 2026 is the first opportunity to truly sever the Newey influence in its characteristics.

All the media have done is kicked Lawson and put pressure on him. Why are people still unhappy now when he's being given a second chance? That Racing Bull is a top 10 car. Lawson's confidence may be restored.

Honda has been paying an astronomical sum to support Tsunoda already. Japanese auto manufacturers are unbelievably passionate about their home-grown talent. Something like this will strike a chord in every single person arriving to work every day at HRC.

The Suzuka track was resurfaced this year too. That was part of the reason why Lawson was struggling in China

its about adaptation and feeling comfortable to push .when checo is comfortable he can be close to Max or even beat him but when he is not he can be a second slow.yuki has innate aggression so he will push the car or put it on the barrier something you rarely saw with daniel he wasn't willing to push the car to its limit and make mistake along the way and learn.

Sure, but it's not like they can do much to help him along any. The engines are fixed and they aren't about to start blowing up PUs trying to run them too hard.

It's confirmed now. Yuki to the main team.

Expecting sky etc to report soon

Verstappen insider van Haren next:

The 2024 driver silly season Lawson over Yuki justifications disnt age well.
Yuki has been the right guy and most people knew this. Lawson backers underestimated seat time in F1. Especially the ground effect and hybrid era. Not easy for a newby to step in and compete at the top.
Lawson barely got 1.5 races in. Unfortunate.
Bur he may get his chance again. If Isaak beats him in the RB then his career is over.
For Sure!!

How can I quickly destroy the F1 career of two talented racing drivers? ASK RBR!! #-o :x

They shoud change their f*cking car instead of changing the drivers! Yuki is doing great in the VCARB02.

He will do bad before his homecrowd in Suzuka thanks to this rediculous decision!!!
He wont do bad at all. You will be suprised how he adapts.
Also... he has nothing to lose. 2025 was his last year in redbull and likely F1 according to Horner.

My bet is Yuki will outqualify Max 30% of the time, if he gets full support of the team.
As for the races.. yes he may crash. But better to show speed and crash 1 or 2 times and tske out a competitor while doing so. Lol
For Sure!!

I'm not convinced. That side of the garage is not right.

Might be conspiracy territory but if I was a top driver I'd want the best engineers on my side, then if I knew I could work with them to set the car up better than my teammate, I wouldn't want the other side having any of that data. I'd have it written into the contract. Why would I give them a chance to compete when I can beat them before we even race. Why would I allow my teammate to use my feedback and setup to compete with me.

It's well known that max has been and continues to be completely open and forthcoming with his teammates at red bull about the setup choices/car decisions he makes, if you're suggesting that there is some subterfuge there

couple of quotes from Erik van Haren the past few days:
But anyone who claims that Verstappen would have all the power at Red Bull is wrong. [Verstappen] also disagrees with the team management's decision to intervene so quickly.
Red Bull is searching

It shows once again that the team is searching. Both in terms of drivers and in terms of the car. Team boss Christian Horner also had to admit after the Chinese Grand Prix that he has no idea what to expect from his team during the next showdown, in Japan in just under two weeks. He acknowledged that his team lacks speed. And of course that they are working hard to get things back on track. But that will also have happened in Milton Keynes during the winter and the fact is that the gap with the competition has only increased, compared to the already unconvincing 2024. It is logical that doubts will also arise with leader and four-time world champion Verstappen as to whether the team is still able to solve the problems.
doesn't really bode well for verstappen remaining for much longer in this team, to be honest
