Mclaren had an easy 3/4 tenths advantage, but they messed up qualifying and that was that.
I would say Red Bull was third quickest if you went by qualifying. Russell bottled qualifying, and track position was king.Sergej wrote: ↑06 Apr 2025, 08:45Red Bull was second force this weekend, I think closer to Mercedes than to McLaren, which had less margin than in previous races though.Emag wrote: ↑06 Apr 2025, 08:38At the very worst, RedBull had an answer to McLaren's pace today. The race having little to no deg maybe has something to do with it, but the gap Max had to the next non McL car in free air was pretty much the same as the gap McL had to the next non McL car in free air.
The "tractor" claims are a bit much imo.
no even if you combine the best sectors mclaren does not have .3 tenth
Mclaren followed in dirty air all race. They were probably 2-3 tenths faster, just as qualifying indicated, but simply could not pass. Anytime that the gap went out to 2 seconds, the Mclaren driver brought it back down to 1.1. That's not even considering that Piastri was faster than Norris and simply got road blocked by him.
No they didn't. They could have got higher but it was always very close. The Red Bull was fast and comparable throughout.
Yeah you could very well be right, Mercedes is a very good car and Max is obviously flexing RB21's value, difficult to judge which car is best. Also consider that Suzuka may have been a very good track for RB21, as tradition of last years.f1isgood wrote: ↑06 Apr 2025, 08:49I would say Red Bull was third quickest if you went by qualifying. This race was just a repeat of Qatar last year. McLaren's marginally quicker but Max won it by first outqualifying them and by keeping it clean for the entire race.
Lando had a pretty scrappy race. Expected more from him but it's good if they keep fighting with themselves as far as the driver's title goes.
Red Bull qualified 1st and finished the race 1st. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. They were not 3rd quickest.f1isgood wrote: ↑06 Apr 2025, 08:49I would say Red Bull was third quickest if you went by qualifying.
