Honestly, it’s madness what McLaren has done with this car. They’re completely untouchable when the temps get too high, nobody gets even close to getting the performance out of the tires they can get.

The only hope for a close quali is if McLaren turned it up a bit for FP3 and the temps cool down enough to bring everyone closer.

They are "vulnerable" in qualifying because there are some drivers who are significantly better than Norris and Piastri, that is why.

This is one of the reasons why HAM has no grip, or is it just that the soft tyres aren`t getting into the window? I mean the front tyres are under this operation window, start to go graining and losing grip, hence the car`s front end won't bite into these fast corners?

All this is saying is that the car lacks downforce. It's not even a balance issue anymore.
Ferrari showing its inefficient aero design.
They need to change the sidepods and engine cover the Mclaren or Mercedes type.
For Sure!!

He's also not prepping the tyres correctly. Other times in the highspeed he's not trusting the rear. So more than brake balance.
To be fair, he did have a lot of traffic and could not get a rhythm together.

Well well well...im sure with Charles raw quali pace he can maybe get 4th with a stunner lap...im sure he's capable. Hamilton on the other hand...maybe if he quality 10th he can help Charles in the race by holding up those behind him...make a pit windo for Charles..

Conditions for qualy will close the gap considerably for the chasing teams. By now it is clear that in the heat of the day mclaren are untouchable but when it cools it equalises the cars considerably.

I agree, conditions will significantly close the gap. But just let me say that McLaren now would've dominated Qatar 2023 and be 1-2 seconds clear of the field in those conditions.

The rumour mill said that after FP2 they were forced to raise the car more they`d like due to the need to attack hard those oversise kerbs, as Macca is doing here in order to take those particular corners faster, and the proof of that is that the car is not sparking as much as it usual ... it seems that MCL39 has a softer suspension setup than the others which allows them to take these kerbs so hard ...

Having all this floor plane changes after few races is just a bad sign.

Anyway, looks like all have been said here regarding Lewis to Ferrari move effectiveness but I think for his defense someone needs to do something different than pushing like hell with a car which so much flaws.

Saying that the car is perfect when it is obvious that it s crap is not always helping in right direction. Russel was enjoying jumping with the zero sidepods Merc now it is Leclerc sayin the car is perfect...

Just give up and focus everything on 2026 at this point.

Exactly. Even if the engine is worse than MB they need to get the basic of the chassis right so they can focus evolving their concept, instead of changing it every year.

Catching up engine wise can be done, even in one year.
