Williams FW32 Cosworth

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Look at the nose, it doesnt seem correctly for me.
Yeah bravo, they photoshopped in an under contruction silverstone as well... sheeesh
ow excuse me that i dont know such locations

For real, the nose is looking way too unregular for me, it looks way too flat at its tip, thats what mad eme think it is photoshopped.

What it also can mean is they have a really smaal nose cone with stub wings to the sides of it.

Look closely, they have the camera mounts right at the tip, that is why it appears so thin.

Looks like wheelbase is shorter than on Ferrari. Although that might be angle.
There's also strange curve on the sidepods.

New Williams seen in Testing at Silverstone http://cdn.images.autosport.com/editori ... 694745.jpg

Its evident the car is very different to the 2009 car, Sam Michael called it a clean sheet design, but it retains some distinctive features of its predecessor.
Starting with quite bulbous sidepod fronts, to provide space for the larger fuel tank and accomdate the radiators. Then the rear of the sidepods are shrunken around the gearbox to improve airflow over the diffuser.
At the front the whole nose is raised, but does not appear to follow the Red Bull Newey “V” nose concept, as the top of the chassis is flat and doesn’t sport the shoulder pads seen on the Ferrari F10. The nose cone ends with Red Bull’ish flat tip, probably to mount the FOM Tv camera pods. There’s no snow plough underneath the nose as yet, it possible that Williams innovation in this area will not return this year.
The engine cover and roll structure appear familiar, not sporting the McLaren style undercut roll hoop, but still wearing inlets for oil cooler mounting above the gearbox.
The car is not due to launch officially until Sunday 31st Jan at Valencia.

Compared to the Ferrari it looks tiny, the wheelbase is really short.

Nice looking car though, hope it is the FW32.

It does look like it's got a shorter wheelbase, doesn't it!? Could be the camera angle throwing us off but that's how it looks to me. Personally, I think it's a better looking car than the Ferrari, we'll have to wait and see if it's any good or not!

is that a rb style pullrod rear suspension or traditional setup?
Best regards. I guess this explains why I'm not at my post!

This contains what may be some interesting comments, won't call them facts. From Andrew Benson (BBC Online F1 Editor) A source says this of new williams: compact front suspension, trick front splitter and interesting wing, back end tiny, like an f3 car, ...

Front wing is much higher, rear is more sculpted, "mirror mounts" are a differnet shape.

Has anyone else noticed that the rear wing has no central upright?
